Chat log with the Hisense SG rep:

Seems like the rep gave either of us incorrect information. 🤷‍♂️ If they can guarantee that the U7H 85" is truly a VA panel then it is a decent buy compared to the smaller sizes.

*Additionally:
Native Contrast Ratio1400:1
Source (Hisense Singapore official website):
https://hisense.sg/product/u7h-85-uled-smart-gaming-tv/
The above contrast ratio of the U7H 85" taken directly from their website indicates an IPS level contrast ratio. VA should be 3000:1 (worst case scenario) or higher (5000:1 or higher).
Source: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews

It is likely that the rep which informed they are all IPS panels is accurate, unless their own website also indicates incorrectly.
Can take a look at TCL, They all using VA panel, even entry-level can produce good colour

VA panels are slightly behind the curve on color accuracy compared to IPS, but for typical gaming scenarios, they are well suited for the job.
https://www.tomshardware.com/featur...are slightly behind, due to the deeper blacks.
***
A VA panel is slightly slower than an IPS panel. Therefore, you will notice slightly more motion blur when playing your games.

***
Although IPS is much more popular than VA and is often seen as the more premium option, both panel types have strengths and weaknesses

Went down to the showroom yesterday. Wanted to test the speed of the controls for the U7G before I purchase, ended up buying a 65" U8H on the spot instead ($1799 + $159 swivel mount).

The wife prefers the U8H, and can't deny the U8H looks nicer at the showroom with better viewing angles (we might not be watching from the front so this is important for us). IPS or not, I guess so long as can produce good picture quality should be fine ba.

Went to checkout the LG C2 as well. Was tempted by the air mouse feature. But for extra 1.5k, can't pull the trigger.

Just wanted to share my experience. Happy TV watching/shopping everyone~

Cool, let us know how your experience with the U8H goes. Is the upscaling of the standard definition content (free to air channels or cable tv) good?

What type of swivel mount? Bought separately from Courts?

My delivery is not till end Sept. I think others will likely get to that earlier than myself. AHAHA!

I just bought the swivel mount from Hisense as well. I.e. from the salesperson. The price is the same on their website as well. :)

I tried the swivel mount that was installed in the showroom. Feels sturdy enough (and can angle the way we want).

You wanted the delivery date or projected by Courts?

Is the U8H suitable to be used as a computer monitor (besides normal TV)? I am using Mac mini and a dell monitor (now got lines appearing).

Thx guys!

Had the similar experience with the wife comparing the same video top u8h n bottom U7g and while the price of the U7G is so much more reasonable, the U8H did produce a colour quality that was more vibrant

Initial review of the US version of the U8H (US version has Google TV).

No idea why SG doesn't import the Google TV version of the U8H. The Vidaa OS just pales in comparison

I personally find the size a tad too huge for computer usage. My personal sweet spot is around 32" for computer. That being said, I fully intend to use the Hisense TV for gaming purposes (nintendo switch mostly).

Perhaps head down to the showroom and look at the size. Even better try bringing a laptop there to ask to test to have a feel. I don't think they'll reject you. 😂

Many thanks bro! May I ask what is the difference between U8H and U9H? Is U9H available in the first place (I read some comments like it is coming soon)?

Also, I read claims like Hisense TV is #1 brand in China ...

Essentially the higher the number the more "atas" it is. I got information from this video (only useful if you know Chinese). ^^"
