Cherry-picked specs, so not comprehensive:

US's U-series sets use VA panel while ours use IPS panel (except 85" U7H and U7G).

As mentioned earlier .....

So does that mean the TCL C835 would be a better choice than the U8H Singapore version? I've tried to research so hard to find a decent 4K TV with Dolby Atmos/Vision under $2K so would either be going with TCL or Hisense but don't know which to pick.

Is it really necessary to get DV and Atmos for that budget?
Atmos on a TV is a fallacy
DV requires 1000 nits and most entry level TVs don't get generate 500 nits..
So please check that the sets you have identified do so..

If you prefer deeper blacks, better contrast, better sense of depth, more natural looks, Dolby Vision gaming, have a darker environment, like Google TV OS and watching TV alone or with one other, IMO, go with the TCL for its VA panel.

If you prefer better colors, slightly brighter scenes, possibly less ghosting, have a brighter environment, like VIDAA OS and watches TV at an angle with lots of other people, then go with the Hisense for its IPS panel.

Both the TCL C835 and Hisense U8H are capable of at least 1000 nits peak brightness, so will suit Dolby Vision. For Atmos, get an Atmos soundbar. TCL will be more expensive though, but I think it's worth it. Personally, I will pick VA panel over comparable IPS panel anytime!

I mean I could go for higher end TVs with DV and Atmos but I don't really see the point in spending more on the brand/marketing for a slightly better image/panel at 20-30% increase on the cost but I see the value in DV and Atmos for the Audio and the content that I'm viewing ~

Currently I'm using the Google TV Chromecast with the latest Google TV OS and I love it so it'll be nice to have on the TV as well. I also think that TCL has Chromecast and Airplay built-in unlike Hisense which some have claimed that will arrive in a firmware update in Dec? I already went ahead to get the Samsung Q990B sound bar because it sounds amazing and hopefully, will be able to enjoy 5.1 and more on my streaming services or slowly setup my Plex server with blu-ray versions of older movies. :)

Thanks so much for the heads-up! Will likely go for the TCL C835 when there's a sale going on ~

Just sharing some interesting chats from FOMO & kakis:

Fiddy
while I had the U7H (VA) and X90k side by side, I compared the colors. U7H can sometimes look more impressive with over saturated colors. Sony always looks more realistic.
.
FOMO
X900H > U6G
.
LEO 7 FIRE
I had the LG G1 and it was the BEST for gaming. Better than QN90A or B. The G1 was so BRIGHT, I was pleasently Surprised.!
.
Oiler Guy
When seeing both of these in store I could tell the u8h (VA) was brighter and more colourful. The u7h (VA) was on par with Sony x90k
.
R6ex
Singapore's U7H is IPS, in contrast to US's VA.
.
FOMO
U8H (VA) > U7H (VA), but the U7H is still a very good TV
.
MoarPower
the U8H (IPS) here in Australia only has 180 dimming zones and blooms in big blocks. I think our u9h (IPS) is the closest to the USA u8h (VA).
i thoughr U8H is Mini led? So mini Led has IPS and VA also ?

Personally looking at a new 75" TV and also trying to decide between the better priced U7H and the TCL C735

IMO,
U7H - bright room, wide-angle viewing, colors, Vidaa OS, FALD, IPS panel, cheaper
C735 - dark room, view TV straight on, 144Hz gaming, G-Sync, blacks/contrast, Google OS, VA panel

Can also consider Xiaomi Mi Q1 TV (75") - better visuals with weaker gaming (4K60 or 2K120) and slower UI (due to processor) at similar price to U7H.
