Do note that whatever I've detailed thus far may not be 100% correct, but my guess is most of it is correct coz they're based on online information plus my exchanges with Hisense SG.

Re: Apple Airplay

While the TCL C835 specs page did state support for it, Hisense SG's U8H specs page did not state support for it. Instead Hisense's only stated specs is "Anyview Cast" and "VIDAA U6", so I'm not sure if they work the same way as Airplay.
Also, all the differences I've found are from this comparison (assuming they're all correct):
https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/comparison/f13f21ed8b
Have fun shopping for a new, shiny TV! ☺️
Thanks let's not dirty the thread with TCL. i will post the questions on the other thread instead. =)

Hisense does a decent job of selling the set. Just that the weakest link is the VIDAA.. no mewatch n no viu app available. Effectively rule out part of the gifted community to the parents or grand parents.

then of course there is the dirty screen effect which is considered normal.

and it’s a despecs or lite spec model . You need to re evaluate price vs what u getting.

if Hisense wish to meet market expectations, they probably want to load with google tv . Else it’s going to be a tougher sell to add in the goodies like similar specs for the US market n realign.

it’s worth noting that if you are the usual suspect of Disney + , Netflix and Amazon prime, you are fully covered for user experience, for all others , have to look for alternatives.

the mixed offerings out of the box right now is equivalent to a mio set top box. Not the most popular offerings but good enough for you to watch the usual mediocre corp tv

Plus Vidaa is secured by dunno what sia.

You ever come to a durian stall that tells you don’t buy from me.. baochiet may not be good so please don’t buy .. kind of statement…
He may need to represent himself in a professional manner. Because he is paid to do that role…
But once u see a Toyota sales man driving a Nissan , u know u probably buying the wrong brand.
The VIDAA is indeed fast. As compared to prism. The Hisense wins hands down

Yes, new system update was pushed out to my U8H TV a few days ago. Nothing much to shout about, primarily the addition of Apple Airplay and the fixing of one bug, intermittent audio dropouts from the optical output.

Still no Mewatch, no Viu TV, some other bugs remain. Local distributor has no idea when it will eventually be delivered as they are at mercy of China HQ.

On a separate note, For those users with U8H, what colour settings do you use? I'm finding the picture to be too blueish in general and the flesh tones are quite atrocious as compared to my previous generation LG and Samsung TV's at home.

the Hisense service guys are usually quite good. Do request for a loan set as they usually quite good on service recovery....

Has anyone here tested or bought the U8HQ? (available now via their website as a separate product)

Claims it has 500+ dimming zones (similar to US U8H model), and 1300 Nits (vs. 1200 in U8H SG and 1500 in U8H US). Also got a note from Hisense WA that audio sync issues via optical sorted via latest update, and Apple Homekit and Airplay added.

Any reviews or opinions? Wanted to see if its worth going for this piece. TIA!

Funny how our U8H is actually Europe's U8HQ, while our "new" U8HQ is likely the actual US's U8H. 🤣

Whatever it is, it's too expensive! Not interested. 😪

Looks like you may possibly be the first person interested in the U8HQ. I have the normal U8H SG version, its ok but nothing really to shout about.

Experienced some blue tint in the TV picture for some months. After i complained to Hisense, they admitted there was manufacturing defect in their earlier batches and agreed to a 1-for-1 exchange. I mean they knew there was a defective batch, but they chose to keep quiet till affected users complained. Doesn't really inspire a whole deal of confidence in the integrity of their management.

Yes, the issue with the optical output is partially resolved. Audio doesn't drop out randomly anymore, however, it is still not able to passthrough Dolby Atmos or 5.1 signals via the optical port. So if you're still using an older AV receiver that relies on optical port, this is something to take into account of.

Their firmware updates are rare (i waited almost 8 months to receive one), and they take forever to fix bugs or bring in upgrades. No Mewatch or Viu...and don't be taken in by whatever the sales guy tells you. They have absolutely no idea when Hisense HQ will include Mewatch or Viu...so if those apps matter to you, you may wish to look elsewhere.

The TV is also not able to playback MKV media files with Dolby Vision content. Everyone looks like a green gringe. HDR content in MKV files are ok. So if you're planning to play your own MKV Dolby Vision content from your plex server or thumbdrive, think twice.
