dec by default is never cheap ...
however have booked before scoot fly 25dec few years back at 120sgd
timing is super bad
guess scoot should be the only non-budget airline that would have promo in dec

that time when I checked tiger and jetstar, the price is about 500

i checked SQ and cathay for dec trip. SQ has only two timeslot for the cheapest economy and its either too early or too late (day 1 wasted). so i might have to go with cathay instead as the timelot more suitable for me.

normally for hk, if u wanna fly a better timing,
or with a better aircraft, such as airbus a380, the price is about 20sgd more per way. that's based on my experience booking with SQ to HK.

Sq checked in luggage is 30kg
cathay is 20kg ...

SQ has better timing?

Not for my intended date of travel though. Its now $532.90 for 2-way to HK. and the departure time (first 2) is 7.35am (too early) and the next at 3.05pm (too late) and not suitable for me...iirc cathay is also about the same price for 2-way but more time choices to choose from. i would very much like to go with SQ though, just the timing issue.

oh by the way the economy flights for 17th dec departure via SQ are all greyed out now. guess its not available anymore...

Have anyone here used expedia to book air tickets before? I just booked a flight with Cathay to HK. I received 2 emails, 1 is the Flight information, the 2nd is Expedia travel confirmation. What's next??? Should I be receiving an email later with the booking reference number or e-ticket number for the web check-in???

I also only have 2 emails from booking TG via Expedia

think you shld go to Expedia online itin to check any E-ticket number or airline booking reference

for CX, check-in is only available 48hrs prior to flight iirc, but u shld be able to check flight booking

there airline booking number is stated there.
you can check your expedia booking.

Hi dede, still going HK?

nope. just came back from bangkok, flying there soon again ...
friends prefer bangkok, more things to shop ...
hk hotel kinda expensive, and not much things to buy, except those pastries and cakes haha ...

however in terms of airline pricing, hong kong is more worth
fly Singapore airlines hk only 248sgd, but bangkok is 238sgd.
for that 10sgd more, you can fly 1.5 hours more haha ...

perhaps for hong kong flight, cathay is pressing low on the price...
hence SQ have to lower their price...

but for bangkok, cathay only have one timing, which some would say not good
their promo price is 178sgd (booked for my year end trip)...
hence one flight timing, wont be a threat towards sq ...
since thai air promo price have been 218sgd ever since this year...
the price diff is about 20sgd compared to sq lowest fare...
hence there would definitely be some ppl who would rather fly Sq

having said that, would still choose SQ
thai airways not very good
must take stairs to take bus to immigration custom, so lousy... no air bridge
their staff face so sulky, unlike SQ ...
SQ staff more professional and more friendly.
thai airways staff... ask them take things, they would forget one ...

if book from expedia singapore, the bank will charge a cross border admin fees to the booking. i booked a flight about s$200+ from expedia when bill come got extra 2-3sgd more for cross border admin fees. i email straight away and ask expedia to explain because it is clearly a singapore website.
