to be fair, if you want somebody to lend you money, especially such a big amount, you better follow their instructions.

Base on HDB website, only 1st appt required the HLE but 2nd appt never mention anything. You can refer to below link "Signing of Agreement for Lease"

http://www.hdb.gov.sg/cs/infoweb/residential/buying-a-flat/new/buying-process/documents-and-checklists&rendermode=preview

Hle and grants are different things.. just because you’re entitled for grants does not mean hdb must lend you xxx amount of money.

But 1st appt already did the AHG and SHG finance calculation, if both approved, why 2nd appt need to have valid HLE 😧😧 since 12 mth cpf contribution alreay cover u are working 😏

Hi guys. Me and fiance just applied for HLE (total income 6k) and declared our loans which are about 600 combined. We were very disappointed with the amount given - 175k. Could it because I am currently servicing my own home loan? (gonna sell my current place and buy a resale flat)

They scare at 2nd appointment u become jobless or salary got decreased. hence need to review HLE. on the positive side, your salary may increase and HLE will be revised to your favour.

I have a stupid question.. How does a HLE letter look like? Is it a physical letter?

Because I have applied online on HDB, and now the status says "Congratulations, your HLE application is successful." But all I have is a print screen (I've saved the page in PDF form), and there isn't even applicant's name and IC on the page.

But there IS HLE no. on it so I guess HDB will have record. But still, this feels kinda weird? Am I supposed to receive a physical letter or something? Or i'm thinking too much?:s22:

Once your HLE is approve, they will send you a letter to your main applicant. Inside of the letter, they will state out how much loan they can give and also example of scenarios how much you'll pay monthly and such.

Hmm there is exacly a physical letter, something you should be able to download from myhdb page.
But yeah during ur appointment, hdb is able to see everything thru their system.

Where is the link to download the letter from myhdb page? The print screen I got doesn't really look like a letter. It's very simple with the number, status, total amount that's all. No much details.

It was approved about 3 weeks ago yet we don't receive any physical letter in the mail. Maybe it's lost.. So I'll probably need to find that online physical letter to print it out

Sorry i dont remember exactly.. but did u try under application status? I just checked my hle pdf file, it has 7 pages..

But as long as u have the reference number, it’s enough.. everything’s linked in their system anyway.

Sometime loan more mean u pay more... so be more caution if u buy expensive flat.

Loan is loan, grant is grant, cpf is cpf. The max loan amount indicated already took eligible grant(s), combined CPF OA balance and combined income into consideration.

In layman terms, HDB only willing to loan u the Max Loan Amount. You want to buy a more expensive flat, HDB will not stop you, just pay the shortfall in cash can already.

Not a good set of definition/example.
All in all it comes to how much you can afford to pay the installment.

In theory that is correct.

Need to factor some amount for stamp fees, legal fees, and even insurance.

A 390k house will set u back by around $6.3k just for stamp fees alone.
So factor in 10k for all these fees (which is not hidden fees, just that most people do not know or dont factor it into their financial calculation)

My advise is look for flat in the range of 350k to 380k.

Hi guys.. may need some advices...

My fiancee and i are goin to choose our SOBF in May 18.. we applied HLE on dec 2017 and i m shocked that our max loan is $254,300... my probable reason is i changed my job in dec (ended in 01 dec 17 started in 26 dec 17) so far our combined salary is 7k.. is there any possibility that i can reapply HLE again even if it is not yet expired.. i m purchasing a ready made flat at around 550k and i have 150k cpf in which i actually need a loan of $400k...

Appreciate if someone could advise me in this... hdb calculator says i can borrow up to 400k and i m pretty disappointed of the outcome..
