Hello all I have just purchased a popsical today and I realise the popsical mics doesn't work with my sony soundbar HT-X9000F even though I connected my soundbar to the popsical using bluetooth. I have also noticed that my soundbar does not have the aux-rca port. When I look at the user guide provided in their online manual, it appears to say that an aux 3.5mm cable could solve this by connecting the popsical to my soundbar using this cable instead of the aux-rca cable. Is it correct? Many thanks.

The included mics won't work over bluetooth. Use a 3.5mm cable to connect the Popsical to the HT-X9000F (analog in).

pairing with a existing Yamaha YAS-108 Sound Bar and the sound a little under power....
any recommendation for a not too over the top soundsystem? maybe <1k?

The recommended speaker choices from Kazzi fit your bill. Review of JBL Party Box 100 seems to be good.

Verdict: Good build and sound quality for the price, and does not look tacky.

The additional karaoke mixer from K036 is not as essential, because any of the speaker choices above have build in mixer and reverb control (echo).

For Android TV boxes, you can use apps like WeSing (全民K歌), Angel Sing (天籁K歌), 唱吧, etc, for Chinese/Cantonese/Hokkien songs. Smule seems to be popular for English songs.

天籁K歌 Angel Sing
VIP for 12 months : RMB 198, or RMB 30 for a month.

全民K歌 WeSing
VIP for 12 months : RMB 240, or RMB 60 for 3 months, RMB 20 for 1 month.

唱吧 Changba
VIP for 12 month RMB 150, or RMB 20 per month.

多唱 DuoChang
VIP for 12 month RMB99, or RMB 20 for one month

For all the above apps, you need to pay for the mobile phone app VIP separately.

In the end WeSing 全民K歌 still has the best collection of songs. It does require China VPN to activate the original singer vocals (原唱) and it does require wechat pay.

If you have Singapore CC linked to your wechat account, you can try to pay that. Not so sure whether it will work or not.

I am using AJS VPN (paid, RMB198 or S$40 for one year) with WeSing (not paid, free version) on mobile and on TV. You can try the free Transocks VPN with WeSing on the mobile first to see how you like it before paying either one. You can pay Transocks using Google Play store (not cheap at S$60.98 per year).

Changba, Duochang and AngelSing support Alipay or WeChat Pay. They do not need VPN. But their free version is quite limited.

I have paid Duochang (RMB99 for one year) on the TV. It is not bad actually but not as good as wesing in terms of feature and song collection.

AngelSing latest version on TV does not seem to work for me on my Mi Box S, only the older version works.

Only the TV version have music video? Mobile version only have the lyrics. Must I have QQ chat or WeChat then use?

TV version has music video. You need to register using wechat account. Anyway you can register for wechat account easily using your Singapore mobile account.

If you are already using wesing mobile version, you should already have a wechat account. Juse use it to scan the QR code on the TV screen to log in.

Guys, can help me and tell me what i need as I have a sony soundbar (ht-ct290) which only has a optical in. However, the popsical remix only has a 3.5mm jack, when i use a 3.5mm to optical (using a 3.5mm female to optical converter plug), there is no sound coming out from the soundbar? How do i get it to work?

Actually it is the HDD based Karaoke machines from not so well known vendors have no copyright protection. They are kind of gray area product in China. For big Karaoke machine vendors you may need to pay yearly subscription for updates.

Copyright holders do peruse the bigger ones. And Tencent, Alibaba and Baidu (BAT) are the main providers of the copyright Music contents. So you do encounter copyright protection enforcement in China because of the big rights holders. And the leading Karaoke app providers do follow copyright protection. That is why WeSing is still having the largest contents because it is owned by Tencent.
