I watched a documentary on this. Seems like they illegally added a water tank and did not factor this into the calculation.

Moi thot additional water tank was added on the roof, a column in the way of driveway at basement was removed and some piles eccentricity were huge. All these caused the building collapse like a pack of cards.

Seems that most of the problems now occur during the construction phase - Nicoll Highway/MRT collapse in 2004, the Tampines PIE viaduct collapse in 2017, etc.

But it doesn't mean all buildings are safe. If some cowboy main con starts to cut corners to save costs, who knows what might happen in future.
