The only local company that I will bother to support is Creative... been buying their products for a long time.
Starting from the backlane of SLS, to the 8bit sound card, then 16bit then 32bit AWE.
But the worst thing outta them wasn't the 'war chest' with Apple's iPod.
It's their shiatty software.
But it had been a good run.
RIP to Sim Wong Hoo, a truly qualified CEO of the first and only True Blue Singaporean Homegrown Company that's actually worth taking a good look - Creative Technology.
The rest of whatever 'homegrown company'? Don't bother.
No disrepect to Mr. Sim who founded and grow Creative.
But nowadays Creative is just a underdog.
FYI Creative products have certain manufacturer producting the parts/software for it.
For example Creative speaker in the past, the speaker magnet use Cambridge soundworks speaker magnets.
When the company folded Creative start to design their own speaker magnet.
I did tear apart Creative speaker to see which manufacturer they use for their speaker magnets.
Sound blaster worse TBH even though it sound good, issue is the software.
Onboard sound have catch up, Realtek drivers and software are much easier to use and stable.
I did experiment with SB Z sound card end up selling it as I don't like the software
making the sound too sharp and bright.
Worse is Creative have remove all software for almost of their old products expect concurrent
products on sale. Example if you still have X-fi or Recon3D sound card, since no more software is
good as throw away.
No more Homegrown company for me also.
