Some more they always emphasize they are local company and a lot of stupid Singaporean believe it I seen it many times in FB comments. They really think they have factory here and build the appliances in SG what a joke.
Secret lab is also considered local company.. but all their manufacturing in China. You be shocked at their cost price per chair and their profit margin per chair.

Sidetrack a bit. Anyone knows why the button of my water kettle becomes rusty after a year of use? Is it a sign of tap water quality issue?

"Support local" mah.

This tagline is used and abused like some $50 prostitute by SMEs until the actual VALUE of the words is actually -$infinity now.

Who still buy into those taglines and are still sprouting it are friggin' naive.
Unless the company open it's doors right now on a short notice to let people see their so-called "R&D facility" and "manufacturing plant", no one should be buying that POS.

Convince me.
The only local company that I will bother to support is Creative... been buying their products for a long time.

Forget it.

Once you see the company expand beyond a certain size (macam like Roche Limit), it's too late to stop them. Esp in Singapore.

See what happened to Odex (if anyone remembers)? When they chut pattern with PacNet and Singnet, their true colours already revealed liao. All the whatever "boycott" becomes useless, cos the company go past the Roche Limit liao.

Wanna stop all these consumer bullying? Very difficult. Cos it's hard to assess the company's true intent when they are first established.
I think their physical medium distribution business probably killed off or badly affected by Streaming service.. including free streaming legit YouTube channel servicing Singapore like Muse Asia and Ani-One...

Mayer and Novita are the two brands that can be better trusted. Although they are not OEM too.

Only dumb ppl buy from this brand. Also the S, P and the A local brands. What they did was just use OEMs and slap a brand on it and spam marketing gao gao yet naive cheapo consumers still fall for it.

That's why when these OEM rebadge companies only replace 1 for 1 during warranty and don't repair, you can tell that they don't actually have any service support function.

Basically these OEM rebadge company, are just like Parallel Importer (PI) with a twist.

Sterra in this case, obviously don't handle anything complicated such as repairing, they rather just give u a new unit.

Prism+ iz another rebadge company but I've not much experience with them except for a ceiling fan. older one that does not have RGB lighting... my gosh what Bull iz that... RGB Lighting...

A brand? what a brand ha?

What makes her think that local seller rebadging everything stocks parts for their unit?

Provided if she knows Sterra is just pasting their logos everywhere on MIC products.

You think Steven Sing really bothers other than auto-piloting now after he'd made his first pot of gold?

But there's a sucker born every minute. Those new birds to Anime (esp those born after 2000) won't know the saga for sure. Old birds now have their life to lead liao. But the anger and memories will remain forever.

All these what business bosses, pffft.

The only local company that I will bother to support is Creative... been buying their products for a long time.
Starting from the backlane of SLS, to the 8bit sound card, then 16bit then 32bit AWE.

But the worst thing outta them wasn't the 'war chest' with Apple's iPod.
It's their shiatty software.

But it had been a good run.

RIP to Sim Wong Hoo, a truly qualified CEO of the first and only True Blue Singaporean Homegrown Company that's actually worth taking a good look - Creative Technology.

The rest of whatever 'homegrown company'? Don't bother.

No disrepect to Mr. Sim who founded and grow Creative.
But nowadays Creative is just a underdog.
FYI Creative products have certain manufacturer producting the parts/software for it.

For example Creative speaker in the past, the speaker magnet use Cambridge soundworks speaker magnets.
When the company folded Creative start to design their own speaker magnet.
I did tear apart Creative speaker to see which manufacturer they use for their speaker magnets.

Sound blaster worse TBH even though it sound good, issue is the software.
Onboard sound have catch up, Realtek drivers and software are much easier to use and stable.
I did experiment with SB Z sound card end up selling it as I don't like the software
making the sound too sharp and bright.

Worse is Creative have remove all software for almost of their old products expect concurrent
products on sale. Example if you still have X-fi or Recon3D sound card, since no more software is
good as throw away.

No more Homegrown company for me also.
