They say if you learn numbers or numeric in chinese, hindi or tamil, chances are that you're naturally better with numbers. It's something about how they sound, count and spell, even the number of syllables matter.
So that's why English or European speakers will be slightly worst off with simpler arithmetic at any age relative to some Asians.
Not even racist, just how linguistics affect numbers.
I think in english in my head, but when I count i naturally have it hard wired to do it in chinese and I think thats how i do it.

Long time ago before mobile phone, all the phone numbers i remember in my head. Now i cannot remember sh*t, sometimes i find it hard to recall what i had for lunch the previous day

It was hard to remember numbers before mobile phone. Now, I think I can only remember 4 telephone numbers excluding emergency services :s13:

like phone number, ic number... do u visualize the numbers or use sound of pronunciation of the numbers? :s11:

moi memorize moi mother ic number using hokkien, so a bit hard to recall the number in english... :s22:

:frown:
My job involves numbers but not accounting
I never knew that I am good in remembering membership numbers of 7 digit (in random order some more) till I got promoted
Oh I also remember their faces
So I take an effort to remember 2 things per pax ,faces and membership numbers (and names too) ,that is my personal branding I have created on my own (many ups from company branding)

But I can't remember CC of 16 digit

My phone number very easy to memorize because ish golden number.
Mine is abbbbacc
There was a number 84444444 which cost $160 in 2008 sold by M1 but I bought the mentioned at $32

These 2 numbers are not golden at all since golden numbers cost few hundreds to few thousands dollars yet, I find mine nicer
Mom’s number also easy because the number is quite nice and easy to rem. And I chose for her one.
I chose abbccadc for her, refreshed the page on Telco site many times to pick it

Wah… 84444444 ish sibei inauspicious number esp to the chinese… see liao I also feel scared whether the first number ish 8 or 9 :o 🤣 I wouldn’t buy.

Mine ish in the thousand. My dad and I are into numbers. We went to the telco shop and ask them key in to check. For my mom one, yah I just keep refreshing for her since she is not very particular, but I’m very happy with the numbers I chose for her. Can find some decent numbers after many refreshing. Also depends on luck because sometimes the numbers so ugly.

I did say out and rem the numbers in Chinese. Personal preference. I think it is the “sound” that made it easier. Like sounds more smooth.
