Dear Early Adopters, HP has something to say to you, and it's not pretty. Buried in a press release, it stated "HP reported that it plans to announce that it will discontinue operations for webOS devices, specifically the TouchPad and webOS phones." Effectively, webOS is DEAD! I'm glad I did not fall for their PR speak when I interviewed them about their grand plans for the TouchPad a few weeks ago. SL

Hewlett-Packard to exit computing and buy Autonomy

Hewlett-Packard has confirmed plans to stop making PCs, tablets and phones, in order to refocus on software.

Lol, it's not even been a month since it's launch and it's dead.

Lucky i didnt buy one even though i saw an offer of $699 for a 32gb + 16gb :s13:

Wow, what's happening?

Moving along at speed, suddenly step on the brakes, turn left, turn right.

I think they foresee the tablet segment will become a really low margin business where maybe only 2 or 3 brands can be profitable. They would rather become like IBM.

I'll be curious to see whether the major retailers in Singapore remove the Touchpad from sale. To be fair to consumers, they should. Or at least inform potential customers that HP is discontinuing the platform.

But sadly, I get the nagging feeling that they will continue to sell the device as if nothing has happened. The sales staff probably don't even know about this latest development ...

well . they did not say that they would not continue to support webOS in terms of software . its just that they would stop producing hardwares for the webOS .

Its good to be an optimist :). But I would really question how much effort and resources HP will pour into further developing the WebOS, if at all.

Wow!!! That's really fast. Even faster than the 1.2Ghz snapdragon :s13:

This may become the one and the only WebOS tablet in the market then, unless they're licencing out the WebOS to other manufacturer in the future (do you anyone would want this? :D)

After this, who will want to buy any webos tablet sia? Nobody lor.

Nobody will want to develop apps for webos somemore. Waste effort, might as well develop for android and ios
