ok, back to my batt thread, i experiment on the battery consumption with various durations and here is what i got. for pple who are bored, can read on...


1st full charge

1) Did a hardware reset, it stayed at 100% for nearly 4 hours

2) Customised the phone and downloaded some apps from market. Weather, google sync, location turned on (no GPS, wifi, bluetooth and all that jazz) - dropped till 91% for like 20mins of usage (7 mb of traffic)

3) Standby with no sms/phone calls and other activity for 3 hr 47mins, dropped by another 6%

4) Turn off weather, standby for 5 hrs 27 mins, dropped by another 7%

At this point before i Zzzz, only google account has auto sync, no more location and other jazz. the phone was at 57%. So far so good.

5) Woke up 8 hrs 31 mins later, batt dropped from 57% to 36%. It dipped 21% ! my... 8 hours of nothing and it dropped so fast than yesterday

6) Disabled all auto sync of accounts, usage was like 9% for 3 hrs 48 mins of standby, surprisingly, sysmon shows data being transferred.

Doing a 2nd charge now, will continue to track the batt consumption. If i average the timing, every 25 to 30 mins of standby, the legend batt will dip 1%.

Question: do u guys think i got a spoilt phone ? or all this standby sucking up battery is normal ?

ok....some questions.

How long you expect 1% of battery to last on standby?
What was your last phone?

hi, is it possible to create a songs playlist and photo albums in the legend using the pc? like create a recognisable folder?

creating the playlist and adding songs in the hp itself is kinda slow.

Just got my phone on Fri, 1st charge was done using USB as I was loading stuff onto the phone. 2nd charge was done using the power adapter. Here's my battery usage for today (After the 2nd charge):

1) Full charge when I left house at 10.30am
2) ~ 18 mins of GPS usage
3) ~ 15 SMSes
4) 10 mins of 3G surfing (3G was on for about 1hr in total the whole day)
5) 20 photos
6) 5 mins of call
7) 30 mins of mp3 playing while reading a PDF ebook on my way home
8) ~10 mins of random menu exploration

Wifi, GPS, 3G, background sync etc was off unless required.

As of 7.20pm the phone prompted me to plug in the charger as the batt had drained to just 14%.

Same question, is this normal? I know battery usage would definitely be higher than my previous phone - E51 which typically lasted me 2 days with around 1hr+ of talk time every day.

it is normal to charge your legend everyday.

my phone batt's was max before i sleep with nothing on. it dropped to 93% in the morning.

it'll last me one day with heavy smsing and 3G.
overall, i think it's alright lah.

hi guys, wondering if anyone knows how to change the alarm tone of the alarm clock to some songs of my choice? I do not like the default alarm tones for the alarm clock... dun wanna get woken up by those lousy tones.. haha..

i think u all have to wait on tips how to maximise battery life.... i not sure abt legend but my nexus one,i can set the network on wdcma only and it extend longer life than wdma preferred

u can try this,but i not sure if can work on legend..

on the phone call,press *#*#4636#*#* then go phone information then click on wcdma only and exit...

other ways to extend batt life is to turn off auto-sync,kept brightness to minimum when not using... use dark wallpaper...

or maybe htc sense ui is the one draining battery... not sure...

The most absurb thing happen, i charge my phone full at 10.30pm this morn at 5.30am batt is dwn to 42% no wifi 3g on, worst i can surf net with my xscope browser but my 3g says its off haha wth is going on...

Generally, touchscreen phones consumes more power than keypad phones.

The starhub guy called me yesterday afternoon (thank God! it is not in the middle of the night.. hehe...) and provided me with another set of settings... and yup it works... so thought of sharing with others who may face the same problem and is not able to access using the previous setting(s)....

it works as u suggested when i use QWERTY keyboard. but when I use phone keypad, the automatic word save doesnt happen..

Nah, it's not. It's the same for all HTC ezinput so far. Words are saved only in qwerty mode.

True for Android 1.x. Not for Android 2.x.
