I think for them still must use non camera phone or lock their phone in the locker provided. THis sticker is provided for in-service personnels only, cos it does state that if u leave the service u have to let the USO knows as well for recording purposes. If they issue to civilians or contractors i think very hard for them to do accounting and checks should the guy leave his company.

if an external contractor use this phone, do they still need to paste the sticker? or the cert itself is enough?

u got any info how abt contractors working in camp?

i think MINDEF should just settle this once and for all. The directive should covers those in service personnels and those external vendors who needs to work in these areas.

It is confusing especially we do have quite a number of people from the few vendors and organisations tat work with MINDEF

for those who are waiting for their online purchase or just want to get a simple cheap screen protector... there are 2-3 shops at sim lim who custom sell them..

what they do is to cut the screen protector sheet to the shape required. so far the price range from $6 - $10.

but for casing wise.. still nothing sold at sim lim

they issue me with a service sheet instead, with a written notice that the camera in the phone has been removed.

the xmm working there said that a few others also requested for a camera removal cert, and she only issue the service sheet to them.. i told her to contact hq, i'll wait a few days for a response before contacting samuel again.

Just upgraded to ICS. Using the same official Russian rom pointed out by DigDub. The steps taken were pretty straightforward, but in case anyone else wants to perform the upgrade, here's what I did. There are 2 parts to the upgrade. Part #1 is a small patch to prepare the phone for an upgrade. Part #2 is the actual ICS upgrade.

Part #1

1. Download the zip file from this link.

2. Create a folder called "dload" in the root directory of your external sd card.

3. Unzip the file and look for the UPDATE.APP file. Copy this file into the "dload" folder you have created.

4. Go to Settings -> Storage -> Software Upgrade ->SD card Upgrade. This would launch the software upgrade and restart the phone.

Part #2

5. Download the zip file from this link.

6. Unzip the file and look for the UPDATE.APP and UPDATE_CUST.APP files. Delete the previous UPDATE.APP file from the "dload" folder and copy these files into it.

7. Again, go to Settings -> Storage -> Software Upgrade ->SD card Upgrade. This would launch the ICS upgrade and restart the phone.

8. Once the phone has restarted. You should have ICS installed.

Note: Thanks to DigDub for offering help with the instructions.

Same here. I couldn't get through the service centre phone line so I took a trip down to the centre. I explained the situation to her and she said she will contact the relevant personnel. Shall wait and see what happens next.

upgraded to b923 with root and v6 supercharger + nitro lag nullifier installed. much more speedier than my previous b919 combi. the downside is that in settings, the icons are now colourised which makes it very cartoonish.

Sure I will upload to dropbox by tonight.. You need b919 and a cwm-like recovery to flash this update. This update removes the Chinese bloat apps and gives root too.

ok, im already on b919. how is the ram usage on that rom?
im currently using the latest miui and the ram management is extremely poor, only 1 app can run at a time, and some apps that takes up more than the available ram will just close by itself..
