at the pink screen, connect your phone to the computer, then it should show up as a disk drive, where you can replace the recovery.img file.

then battery pull and press vol + and power to enter recovery.

i read ICS denied pink screen as usb drive leh, then the IMUI still suggest to install ICS first, now my computer cant detect the USB drive in pink screen. I've used root explorer to replace the recovery.img currently cant boot, when try to go into recovery give me error in my recovery.img.

ps: im following the instructions from IMUI, using the recovery.img from IMUI, need help please! :(

You need B919. That version of ICS allows custom recovery.

MIUI 2.6.8 and newer
are based on B919 and you need to flash the stock B919 as base for those newer MIUI-ROMs (everything starting from 2.6.8, as of time of writing 2.6.29)
I think B919 cannot be downloaded from huawei anymore, and the newer B923 locks the pink screen so you cannot switch to custom recovery, which you need to deploy custom ROMs.
I've repacked the B919 Stock ROM into a 7z to make it a bit smaller and put it onto my NAS:

UPDATE: I just found that if you have the direct link you can still download B919 from Huawei: http://www.huaweidevice.com/cn/downloadCenter.do?method=toDownloadFile&flay=software&softid=NDE2OTU=

OMG thank you so much for the simple post. Totally helped end my days of countless searching and trying to root this phone. Clear instructions and the 7z file really helped much!
