I read that it’s only USB-C 2.0 so cannot connect to HDMI.

I got the China version M5 Lite (M5 青春版) recently during my late Dec 2019 trip to China. 4GB/64GB for RMB1399 with free case and screen protector. I think it was at RMB1149 during 12.12 sales.

It is pretty fast with the low end Kirin 710 processor, running EMUI 9.1 (Android 9), much better than my expectations. We have iPad 2018 and old iPad Mini 1 at home for kids. And originally my plan was to get the new iPad Mini 2019.

No intention to install Google stuff as I use it for Chinese Entertainment and as the tool to get my daughter to better learn Chinese.

No USB C though, still using Micro USB connector, but not a real problem for me.

BTW, the Lite 8 inch model does not support the M-Pen Lite. Only the 10.1 inch model supports. The 10.1 inch M5 Lite model has Type C too. But it uses a slower Kirin 659 processor.

Depending on where you buy.

Before I ran into M6 in JB, I was actually aiming for M5 Lite, so I did go around researching.

This is a list of what I knew (as of End Jan 2020):

Huawei Sim Lim Square - NO

COURTS Funan Mall - "Depend on availability", but confirm got free cover.

Huawei Holiday Plaza, JB - YES
