Some issues with the mate 10 pro that i've noticed while deciding if i should purchase this.

1. WiFi stops functioning properly after awhile. Connected but doesn't pull data. Slow wifi speeds
2. Apps get killed off/stops functioning when you exit it. I.e. apps stop syncing/downloading
3. Widgets/background apps stop working after phone goes into deep sleep (not used awhile)
4. Notification problems. Apps don't report notification

I can't tell if these are common problems or one-off issues. Could the users here share their experience if these are indeed/still problems with the later softwares?

I didn't experience 1.

But 2 and 3 , I totally agreed with you! This problem is annoying. I guess it's their way of saving battery.

No. 4 should be due to no. 3 I think.

Could this be due to OS behavior?

no issue for no.1
2 and 3 i guess is individual app compatibility issue.
mate 10 cannot use amazon app, while Sony can (sorry I only own sony so don't know other phones)
no. 4 maybe is Android 8 issue or setting?

I just bought a mate10 last sat.

Haven't experienced no.1.

2 and 3 can be resolved by manually managing the particular apps under "apps and notifications". By switching the management to manual, you can enable the app to run in background. By doing this though, eats into the battery resources and your mate10 or mate10 Pro will probably not last as long as others who let the OS manage their apps.

Your point 4 can also be managed the same way I guess. For me I have the opposite problem - there's way too many system notifications on Oreo that irked me. I had to download third party app to remove all those pesky android system notifications.

Those using M10 non Pro, you're using FHD or QHD?

And what's the Android security patch level at?

Not sure if it's really me, but my Mate 10 non Pro seems to have something similar to this.

WiFi was "connected" this morning but I couldn't surf the net, only opened up old cache version of the webs that I have.

Play Store also keep "searching for update" and my installed tab is empty.

Disabled and re-enabled the WiFi and then everything worked smoothly again and Play Store loads up fine.

Seems like the WiFi will cock up after extended rest or something? There's the up/down logo but can't load anything.

This seems to be a problem on some other handsets too, perhaps not too widespread and a easy fix, but still an annoyance.

Issues 2 & 3, I've read that changing the settings, to give app priority + whitelisting + disabling battery optimisation for the app doesn't work too. Apparently emui is aggressively killing background apps. Is it to the extent where exiting a browser while downloading stops the downloading process as well? Someone in this thread mentioned Dropbox would stop downloading/syncing when he left the app. Would like some confirmation on this as it would imply broken multitasking. =\
Issue 4, I can't determine if you guys actually have the problem or recommending fixes.
Do you get whatsapp notifications when the phone is locked or on the table etc?

It seems Hauwei just does things their own way for their OS. And software bugs that are inherent with android 8.0 and not.

my m10 has no issue with Amazon.

notification has some minor issue.

I think mine is partly caused by private space, battery saver and DND mode.

no issue for no.1

It does work for me. The first morning after I got my phone, my third party alarm did not sound as it was killed overnight. I went to set manual management and to allow it to run in the background, and subsequently it can ring in the mornings.

You just have to allow whatever apps you want to run in the background. It's just a little tedious to manage one by one and you can get system notification that the app you set to run in the background is taking up high battery resources etc, but if you do need it to run in the background then you gotta live with those notifications.

Is that a hardware fault or software? Wondering if go service center worth it or not.

I doubt the service centre can help. It seems to be a software flaw, like issues 3 & 4, even the wifi process is getting killed/froze until you restart it manually.

These software issues are really holding me back from getting one
Only other phone i am contemplating is the V30.
