HarmonyOS cannot use Android. It's a different operating system altogether. Perhaps they can provide some sort of compatibility layer to allow Android apps to run on it, but it won't be 100% compatible. Anyway all this is conjecture because no one has seen an actual running HarmonyOS, none in this forum at least.

It can work?
I have been installing Google play to xiaomi China rom and Alexa tablets. It is technically not possible for Google to block?
because google is not prohibited to work on xm and Alexa? but once google detects it's a Huawei device technically it can choose not to allow the app to connect to google services even if you can install the app

Likely in November go up China to get the Mate 30X 5G or the Mate X cw 5G

Can work here, right? I suppose they have an international version ah. No Google services the best

😄

Indeed, less spying from CIA and less battery drain. :D

It's software. Technically it is possible to code anything. Just depends on whether it chooses to block completely or make it uncomfortable enough for general users to shun it.

I've been helping friends do China phone play store install for some time, so i just share my 2 cents.

Mate 30 series will either be with or without Google certification, depending on whether USA will give Google the approval for his application.

If not, Mate 30 will announce as AOSP on Sept 19. Even if not launched as Google Android, if before shipping date US gov approves Google GMS licensing to Huawei, it will be shipped with Google.

Without installing Google Play Store, and Google Mobile services, here's how your device will interact with apps:

1) Google Apps - Gmail, Maps, - cannot install
2) 3rd party apps but use google mobile services location framework - Grab, uber, - can install but cannot work
3) 3rd party apps but not using google mobile services location framework - whatsapp, line - no problem

So most user will want to install Google play store apps and google mobile services on the Mate 30. No problem. It's actually easy as has been done by Xiaomi and other china phone guys in single app in the past - refined to perfection over the years.

For Huawei Mate 30 it's a flag ship device, so stores which carry it will presumably help you do it if you are complete computer idiot, but still any person could do it with low difficulty level.

The detail on the legal is something like this:

Have to be quite accurate here: Google licensing approval that he seeks, is merely to
1) officially certify the device for Google Android
2) to allow manufacturer of device to preload Google Play Store and apps

Devices which are certified have their Google Service Framework number stored in a certification database. There's some hash stuff going on here, because for type-approved devices, seems that there is another number which is stored.

However, for phones which are not type-approved, you can still install Google Play store, Google Mobile services and the apps, but you will need to register device's Google Services Framework number. To find the GSF number it's https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.evozi.deviceid

and you can register here https://www.google.com/android/uncertified/

The real contract is between Google and the End user. Hence, Google will not block end users from sideloading Play Store and Google Mobile Services, the contract between Google and End user for the apps has nothing to do with Huawei, it's the user's choice.

As long as not preload, it's nothing to do with Huawei ban. After the user purchase, user can ask anyone to help and anyone can help him without any slightest legal issue. For user to install, it's actually allowed and facilitated by Google, and end user agreement is signed anyway. It's all because Google allows sideload and because of the big amount of work Google has done to facilitate sideload, can say that it almost actively encourages.

If the device can let you install the Google Framework, there's no problem to install Google Playstore & other apps or sideloading. I did it on my China E-reader device also which also run Android OS.

To those are not Tech savvy person will presume it's end of the world & to some tech people it may feel that abit troublesome. :D

All this is because google never wanted to block, if google decided to block.

So can I say if do all of the above, the phone will behave like as if it is originally installed with Android like the previous P30 & Mate 20?

One thing about HW phones is still there's no support for WiFi 6

🥺
So are others except the samsung s10 and s10 and the upcoming iPhones.

Mate 30 has a newer chip right. How you know it doesn't come with wifi 6?

The Mate 30, from what I see in leaks, is a killer device for hardware. Huawei will not be stupid, it will probably be trivial to install Google services framework, install google play store, install google apps, install google mobile services, into the Huawei Mate 30 series.

If the device can let you install the Google Framework, there's no problem to install Google Playstore & other apps or sideloading. I did it on my China E-reader device also which also run Android OS.

To those are not Tech savvy person will presume it's end of the world & to some tech people it may feel that abit troublesome. :D

the simple message is this - there're already apps which can do `one touch' - means you just press a button and the app will do everything - register GSF, install play store, gms, all in perfect order. Don't really need to be techie once some techie tells you how to do the one touch.

This one app installs everything you need to make Google Play Store go into your China phone one touch, with English instructions https://itechify.com/2016/11/10/download-google-installer-apk-chinese-phones/ and within the article also mentions simple GMS install.

thanks for sharing! Very useful to me because I am actually bent on buying the Mate 30 Pro despite the ban.. Huawei phones are really good but having playstore and gmail is important to me because I game on my phone and I need these to install the game app and it's linked to my gmail.

I don't think that it is envisioned that international market should be offered to buy a phone without google services and apps. The wonderful one-touch google play install apps might even be created by Google itself lol just to increase their market. Now is probably the time which China support those GSF installer apps and make it even more easy to install GSF inside.

So can I say if do all of the above, the phone will behave like as if it is originally installed with Android like the previous P30 & Mate 20?

Yes. Actually as mentioned below, the installation of GSF, and GMS, is automated for phones for some time now by that China installer app. Once I get my hands on a Mate 30 I'll post a detailed and optimized guide. I don't think it will take more than 3 steps lol.

That means annoying app like facebook will not be preintalled? Yes will buy one for that!

Hahahhaha confirm no FB preinstallation.
