I have Huawei mate 20x but likely this is my last Huawei phone. Quite risky to buy a premium phone without android support.

1. I tried sideloading on mipad and not everything works. My calendar definitely don't work

2. China apps are pretty good but they are blocked in SG. Some cannot work or is not as good. Try using baidu to search English and try baidu map instead of Google map in SG.

3. How do u communicate with ur friends? Go back to SMS days?

Without Google, I think Huawei need years to move to Google playstore level. Until them, it is a risk
Same thoughts. Mate 30 has excellent hardware. But I won't wanna get an expensive paper weight. Camera is only part of a smartphone

any news from local telcos when Mate 30 & Mate 30 Pro would be available, and how much?

Don't think it's selling outside of China yet. Without gms difficult for Huawei to sell in meaningful numbers.

UK telco selling it. Maybe just for the sake of sell.
Huawei spent big money to advertise. All tech websites and newspaper all reporting... guess the costs behind is skyrocket this time.
also giving false hope to people that GMS can be done by one click then function as it should.

I only refer to GSMArena photo tools for photo comparison.
anyway, camera is just a part of the phone la. i don't believe everyone will use the camera more than 20% of their total usage time.

if cam is all you're after then buy a mirrorless cam, much better pic quality

I guess for most of us...we will wait and see if there is indeed a way to install Google stuff on this phone. Otherwise, forget it.

Watch the defenders drop this phone as soon as they find out none of the banking apps work because the 30 doesn't have Google certification.

quote the rest of the passage, registering the phone and getting the GSF number then it will work with Google blessings.

"a user can bypass this message is to manually register their device with Google, but this is intended to be used only by users running a “custom ROM” (after-market software)."

Without GMS certification, Google treats the M30 like a unknown firmware/custom ROM. Which is just fine, after registration, Google will give its blessings to the phone for you to install GMS legally, as a End User with CHOICE.

"Even so, sideloading GMS apps on the Huawei Mate 30 and other new devices from Huawei and Honor will likely trigger the “device is not certified by Google” error message to appear."

so good luck to those who keep asking just sideload and it will work..

and root your phone will basically render the warranty as void.. which in the first place Huawei has all along disallowed unlocking of its bootloader..

ok... how to root and run a custom rom when hw doesn't allow users to unlock it's bootloader? :s13:
