Hope could sideload gapps...like we purchase chinese variant of huawei phone.
Else, without google map, apps like
- Grab cant be used...no taxi and grab food
- location based games ...no POGO....
nvm ma. those Huawei users previously say they will support even if no Gapps.. got baidu, weibo, tencent, WeChat..

If the population in China, Russian plus some parts of Europe, Asia starts to use hongmeng, google powerful rise could be kept in check....I will support huawei if the pricing is right cos I don't like duopoly.

Battery life is superb since mate 20, P30...

After watching the launch, I still dont get it.

Am I able to use apps such as Google Maps or playstore using any method? Can it be done at all?

my guess is that Huawei will provide an end user/aftermarket way to install Google stuff. Then even if Google detects unlicenced Huawei phones running their services they'll look the other "wei" and not block it. After all, Google will still earn money from advertising on those Goog apps running on Huawei phones. let's see.. .

"Even so, sideloading GMS apps on the Huawei Mate 30 and other new devices from Huawei and Honor will likely trigger the “device is not certified by Google” error message to appear."

so good luck to those who keep asking just sideload and it will work..

and root your phone will basically render the warranty as void.. which in the first place Huawei has all along disallowed unlocking of its bootloader..

its true that Huawei is facing some challenges due to google apps issue.

But I had to admit at least they are leading the innovation, which was done by Apple many many years ago during Steve Jobs Era - perhaps iPhone 3,3GS era

Currently the others just follow Huawei. Its really more worthwhile supporting Huawei compared to others now, at least for me

we'll see if Google will play hardball with Huawei and prevent sideloading. if they do, bye bye... but I'm guessing they will play nice and silently allow it. this is just my guess though - until Huawei or Google officially say so then we will have to assume that sideloading will NOT be allowed at all.

sideloading is one thing.. whether the apps will work after sideloading is another thing..

and if it works..

whether or not it will continue to work after X months is another thing.

yeah, HWZ posts mentioned that Grab, foodpanda all these need google services to work. It's not about installing playstore so easy.
