no matter what phone, I still believe in sticking with the stock firmware has the best battery.
sorry I don't do gaming but I guess, should be longer on mate 8.
because it has bigger battery with lower (full HD) resolution.
just purely on browsing the internet, I ever hit 15-17hrs SOT.
Ahh.. thank for sharing. Will lure around here hoping price will drop

SOT is meaningless without context - usage patterns, what is on and what is off etc. I got 13hrs SOT....but without context it is a meaningless statement

WiFi & LTE mix usage. Web browsing,YouTube, social media whatsapp, viber, some light gaming of CoC, Bluetooth pretty much 100% sync to pebble watch, car Bluetooth speaker.

what's your SOT?
me browsing and music over the earphone (with DTS) about 11hrs SOT. (each % 7 mins SOT)
so the latter usage takes up about a third of the battery.
just pure browsing with each % of between 9mins and 11mins of SOT, hence 15-17hrs SOT is achievable.

end of this year, probably the price dropped to $650 if $20 constant price drop every month.
I bought exactly a month ago at $808, now can get at $780.

That is when mate 9 might be release :).. And if you are a dual sim user, buying this mate 8 at the end of this year is not a wise decision since 2G will be turn off on 1st April..

Nexus 6p - avg 6.5 to 7hr
Oneplus One- avg 7 to 7.5hr
Oneplus Two - 6 to 6.5hr
Samsung s7e - avg 8 to 8.5hr

First full day with Mate 8

Just received Mate 8 on Sat, at $49 from Starhub (24mth contract on "4G4" - the $62.90 per month plan). (UPDATE: $49 = $99 - $50 CIS-renewal-voucher)
On Sat night, I moved my SIM card and microSD and basic apps and settings into the Mate 8 from my old Z3.
On Sun morning, starting from 100% at 9am, it is now (~15hours later) at 9%, and the SOT is 7 h 55 min.
Didn't play any games. Just web browsing, FB, WA, a few photos, Spotify with headphones.

Fingerprint is not 100% if I sloppily place my finger, but it is good that there is nothing to press, the sensor seems to retry continuously when your fingertip is there, so you can just move your fingertip a bit and see when the sensor gets a good read. Not bad.

Package from Starhub included a Huawei Band B0, which I am carouselling.
Also includes a Pleather window-cover-case, which I personally find cumbersome. I don't need the front protection.

I won't repeat any other praises for Mate8 now.

Just want to note that when doing Ookla SpeedTest, when connected via 5GHz wifi, the Mate 8 gets about 180 Mbps up / 120 Mbps down, while my old Z3 gets >190 Mbps for both up and down.

Yes, after a few tries I figured out how to make it work.

Placement should be top half nearer to camera. For some odd reason, if you cant get a response, try it at a slight angle to the phone.

Worked for AL10 model.

has anyone try the NFC function with Ezlink application on mate8 to see whether it can read the Transitlink card? I try and don't detect, but the NFC beam work on transfer file to my mate7. The app work on my mate7 running EMUI3.1, no idea is it because mate8 running EMUI4

Oh ya, there was additional $50 voucher.
For CIS-renewal. Something like that.

Can i check whether any bro here feels the power button is a bit wobbly compared to the volume button?

In my set, i feel so.. Volume buttons are much protured and firm. But power key is bit recessed and wobbly..

is it like that in most of the sets??

Is fine on my set
Why don't you go back to the shop n do a check on other sets
In Malaysia HW will change to a new set if user is unhappy with it. There will not be any repair at all. They had implemented this since Mate7 n many users had reported successful change normally within the same day
I don't know whether HW Spore had such an exchange policy ??

Online exclusive is 99...i guess starhub gives Huawei best benefit since latter work with them on the fastest LTE indoor thingy

I did some calculation. Starhub and M1 cost exactly the same over 24 months. One is more pricey in phone, the other in contract. Does it come with a Huawei watch or some wrist thing?

should have skipped the update, the standby is not as good. don't know is it because usage of my WhatsApp 24/7 with the frequent group chat.

felt like going to Huawei SVC CTR to request downgrade of firmware.
