Mate 9 is a real decent workhorse at that price. Easily a daily driver for most scenarios. Camera is decent but of course wont match the latest flagships if thats a criteria. Also if into gaming, the latest phones w newest cpu/RAM is always going to be a bonus.

One more thing. The screen is the best, but no one really notices. If u take your Mate 9 and go to the shops to compare against other LCDs even for the newer Mate 10, P20, M20 - the Mate 9 screen is way brighter and better.

you DIY, go ahbeng shop change or go huawei singapore svc center? if its the first two, no data will be lost. svc center will ask you to reset your phone.

One more thing. The screen is the best, but no one really notices. If u take your Mate 9 and go to the shops to compare against other LCDs even for the newer Mate 10, P20, M20 - the Mate 9 screen is way brighter and better.

hey i just got my mate 20 and youre wrong. the colors are the same but the brightness on auto is far brighter on the mate 20. even gsmarena says so.

but one thing is that for someone with sweaty palms the mate 9's matte finish fingerprint sensor is much better for me compared to the mate 20. sometimes my moist fingers cant validate on the mate 20 while its 10/10 times on the mate 9.

before anyone asks, yes i have tried re-registering my fingerprint. i doubt that it is a defective unit as well because all i need to do is wipe my finger dry.

could it be because of the more technical aspect where the panel is RGBW instead of RGB? Since there is more "white" the yellowing is dampened?

Battery life seem about the same cos my Mate 9 just change new battery 2 wks ago. Maybe the Mate 20 need a bit of run-in first cos used only 4 days.

The software needs a few more rounds of optimizations just like the mate 10 in the beginning before seeing an improvement in battery life.

Just to confirm, when adjust the volume key, is your default us media or ringtone? My Mate 20 is media can it be change when i press the volume key it adjust ringtone volume? And also when i adjust the ringtone volume the ringtone will sound, can it be like Mate 9 just the tick tick sound when adjust?

Is your Mate 9 using new battery? Cos my old battery (1y10mth old) can get sot of only 7hrs plus till about 12% left. After change can get sot of 8hrs51min till 21%left.
