China set
I bought it in aug 2025
You regretted?
I only had the phone for 2 days...haven't even try the Android Auto and see whether it works. I will reserve my comments for now. Quick impression, the UI is surprisingly smooth. Opened multiple apps and experience no hiccups so far.

I get hiccups upon loading a page sometimes despite no other RAM demanding apps , using samsung browser and hwz site takes like 15 seconds to load when the trifold is on unfolded mode ,horizontally

Any reason why you are using Samsung browser? Why not use chrome?

Sync bookmarks tied to samsung account
Properly optimized dark mode
just one click to bookmark page/access bookmark/backward forward/refresh instead of couple of clicks
The OS can auto force stop the app but can't do that on chrome
Can toggle left or right upon fullscreen mode when watching video, as well as up down to adjust the volume

I feel the browser is underrated because majority users are using other browsers

Just received the latest security patch OTA. Now I have the latest Dec security patch. File size is about 402MB which is about right for half a year's CVE patches.

Even if the price is around the same as any foldable with 2 screen...I'll not even buy this tri-foldable. It makes no sense. Ugly as hell...and the thickness of 3 screens folded together looks absurb. My 2 cents...

Even give me a free unit (Huawei Mate XT), I won't even want it...There is just too many compromise for this outward folding foldable phone. Even Samsung's implementation of the "G-" fold is not enticing enough for me to get one. For foldable, I can only accept 2 screen (bi-fold) at this point...I still believe that the current apps in the app store right now is still not optimised for foldable.
Dragging you down together

Full usage of all the screens? I think at most 8h and that is just purely browsing
If streaming video, 5h

At first i also thought that the battery is small, hiam the battery life not even decent, yet i bought it in the end when i told my wife it doesn't interest me as i agreed with her as ugly looking lol

Red XT looking sexy 😝
Still sexy looking

Mate xt pricing for used sets also seem to be going down as well... Keep seeing 2-2k local/china sets going around on carousell and already sold ..

Android Auto confirmed working

IMG-20260102-165839.jpg

One will need to install Google's Speech and Synthesis app, Google app, Google Map app and of course, Android Auto itself. Android Auto apk is available on the Huawei's App Gallery. I believed it used to be that the user will need to change the region in the Huawei App Gallery to something like Malaysia to get it, but no longer needed. Surprisingly, all the necessary permission levels for the 4 apps already pre-defined, so there is really no need for user to meddle with the developer mode for Android Auto etc. Just make sure “always allow” for Google Map and that's about it. :)

naked, as always
I use the stock case when only I makan while streaming video
Oh i DIY the case by trimming the excess

I saw you trimmed the handle...gosh, I guess you have no intention to sell your phone eh? For me, I am getting it to play with the trifold for a month or two before I sell. So need to baby this. Huawei's sale strategy seems to take at least 1 year for any latest model to go "global". For now, the Mate XT S features just not worth the extra shilling. Hence decided to get the Huawei Mate XT to play around.

Back to the case, it is a true text-book conundrum. The Mate XT design is "unique" but it makes the most sense and provides more flexibility when it comes to usage. But its "uniqueness" is also its biggest "enemy" since slapping a case will make handling this phone a cumbersome experience. I agreed going case-less is the easiest way to use this phone. Seems like there is no perfect case for Mate XT AFAIK.

For Samsung Z Trifold, going case-less is fine, and it also avoids adding bulk to it. But Mate XT screen exposed to the elements needs a hard cover case to protect., but otherwise, I prefer the Mate XT fold design over the Z Trifold.

Will sell it end of the year after getting the successor of XTS, if only;
-battery size/full display size is above 550
Or
-even.higher than 92% screen to.body ratio
But Mate XT screen exposed to the elements needs a hard cover case to protect
I ever dropped the phone once in dual fold mode from a height of 1.8m in the bathroom ,heng no scratches or dents but it doesn't stop me from using it without casing

Gettting all apps to work on your Huawei phone (global rom with EMUI 14.0.XX) using Google Playstore (GBox) and Aurora Store

I have managed to get every apps to install after I have discovered there are some "missing" core google system files that the global rom (sold in Singapore) failed to pre-installed.

1. Missing google play services framework proxy - download and install it from microG.org. Once installed, all apps can be updated via Google Playstore or Aurora store w/o any issue.

2. Ensure all microG services permissions are all enabled. By default, it is not!

3. Make sure under microG Services in the Settings, select unverified links, "*.app.goo.gl".

4. Go to the cogs icon, select Self-Check, ensure all microG services are checked. If the microG Services Framework is unchecked, that means you need to instgall the play services framework proxy. Follow pt. 1.

5. Next make sure, under Advanced, select "Yes" for Draw over other apps.

6. Lastly, under Launch Manager, make sure to uncheck the button for microG services framework proxy.

7. Another missing core service is Android System Webview Beta. In the Aurora store, search for this service and install it. Once installed, go to Launch Manager and uncheck the button for Android System Webview Beta.

8. Clear the cache for GBox to clear the cache of the Sandbox (VM) and add in your Google Account one more time.

9. For those who wish to use the Aurora store instead of the Google Playstore, make sure that "Open by default", select "market.android.com" and "play.google.com" are selected for the "unverified links".

That's it! You can download ALL google apps and continue to receive the latest updates with no restrictions.

Enjoy!

Why such hassles since you are selling it later
