What’s the alternative for gpay besides whipping it out physically as sometimes I just go out with only my phone Eg to nearby mall

Singtel's Dash works with NFC payment on p40 Pro. Works for mrt and buses too

uob pay and icbc already started to support huawei pay. just need the mainstream bank like DBS to support now.
Let's hope it's sooner rather than later.

tbh, trade war will slowly eat all MIC equipment one day. just that they r not big enough to be a threat now. I rather support open platform like huawei app gallery as a form of contingency before xiaomi or oppo will be next target
The reason why he's going after Huawei and earlier on, ZTE, is because of their networking hardware. Cell towers, routers, etc are much greater security risks than a bunch of cellphones. Doubt Xiaomi or Oppo will ever get slapped with the same ban, and besides their American market presence is even smaller than pre-ban Huawei.
Sometimes I worry to use their machine to scan as there are too many germs where I use the phone clinching on my face ******************************************************
it's contactless lah lol. my phone doesn't even touch the scanner

Same here, I pay for public transport and trips to the mall with just my phone and tbh there's just no coming back from that kind of convenience. Sometimes during lunch I just leave my wallet in the office.

I mean for that there's no other alternative than to take out the actual card. Haha. I think convenience do spoil us a bit
You sound almost apologetic haha. imho contactless payment functionality should be a given in any 2020 smartphone (let alone a $1K flagship). This nonsense with the Google ban has really crippled Huawei. I don't have much hope for Huawei Pay, tbh, but I do hope it gains traction amongst local merchants. At least to the level of Samsung Pay would be great.

That's the only alternative right now, but I think you need to manually top up wallet balance...which is troublesome? dunno tbh. Plus you'd be giving yet another company your CC info, aiyoh

Thanks for this! While I have been well aware of SingTel Dash, it never occurred to me to use it because i thought it only worked for SingTel NFC-enabled SIM Card, which I didn't have. But I just tried downloading it and it works! Heck, you don't even need to be a SingTel subscriber - to receive registration OTP, it works with any local telco number! Good "workaround"! Any limitations … ?

Don't worry :)

For SingTel customers, you can add it to your SingTel bill which is equivalent to an auto top-up as it requires no user intervention when funds are low. If you are not a SingTel customer, you can still activate auto top-up after you save your credit card details, and run through a security verification which requires you to upload your NRIC. I just did it!

Notwithstanding the available "workarounds", hoping for Huawei Pay to strike the deal with our local banks soon. ;)

For those who were motivated to download SingTel Dash because of this post, here's a freebie for you - use this link to sign up for Dash and you would get $5 Cashback when you make your first transaction! Pls enter "DASH-WOWKE" as the invite code. (Sharing because I get $2 Dash Credit too, win-win!)

Casing - You can get it from Shopee and Lazada. I got mine from Lazada, reasonable shipping within two weeks even with the Circuit Breaker. Look for the seller "Lenuo Official Store"

Tempered Glass - The phone advises you not to change the factory pre-installed protector, saying that using other protectors will lead to fingerprint reading security compromise. I suppose the compromise comes in when you try to register a blurry fingerprint, and then subsequently anyone else with a blurry fingerprint resembling yours may unlock the phone.

COD - not a gamer.

One month nothing to do so install all apps first while waiting for accessories to arrive. Long wait.

I feel there are quite a number of inconveniences with using new model Huawei. Encountered a few hiccups with apps like food panda, etc

Not trolling but I Guess The bros here will tell you it’s all worth it for the camera and design of the phone. And you can always have alternative for food panda and if not to suck thumb and endure the inconvenience becos the camera and design of the phone is worth it.

Such is the mentality of the ppl here. I like the camera of the p40 but I cannot eat my photos that I take, I still need the phone to live normally esp when you pay close or over 1k worth for it.

And also on the note before you bought the phone did you check out this thread and by any means is your decision to get the phone been even slightly influenced by the bros in this thread that gms installation is easy and after installing all except gpay will work?

Yes I did but still went ahead to buy it anyway. Was quite decided to sell the phone this morning but 2 of my cases arrived today and I quite like it now again :s13: I have 2 incoming new phones so need to clear my inventory abit. P40pro was one of those designated to be sold but now changed my mind. Sold my s10lite this morning instead

It a good choice. actually I am selling my flip z after using p40 pro. it is so much responsive and lag free compare to Samsung flip.

Definitely not trolling, I am a Huawei fanboy. Got the m30pro too previously. Seems like google tightened up certain measures, p40pro seems a bit more restricted compared to the m30pro. The camera is one of my favorite key features. The battery life another.

The screen of P40 pro got protector film?

Yes, it comes with screen protector somewhat of polyethylene material with abit of oleo-phobic coating so its smoother to swipe around. Noticed the film also sorta self heals when u get a light scratch on it.
