I'm planning to buy a Huawei tablet (CN version) from Taobao. I know that CN Huawei phones have issues with essential apps like banking due to the lack of Google Mobile Services (GMS).

However, if the tablet is only for media and gaming, will the app situation be manageable outside of China?

I'd appreciate any advice from experienced Huawei users on importing and using a CN-spec tablet internationally.

Yeah, more brands seem to be on this mini size bandwagon.
If not in a rush, no harm waiting out for discounts and release before deciding.
Memories all the hassle of dealing with CN rom years ago and plus now need to handle harmony OS....

This 255gram with that display...quite tempting. But so many downside....harmonyOS plus that weak processor.

SIghz, think will wait ba......thanks for the reply

Thanks but hearsay honor also coming soon for 8 inch range….
Not sure why specifically you want to go with Huawei.

Now you can get Xiaomi Pad Mini or Lenovo Y700 gen 3 2024 both with Google Play Store.

Huawei MatePad Mini is likely to be sold from Huawei Singapore too in the future

Thinner and lighter, but you sacrifice battery life. Xiaomi 7500 mAh vs 6400 mAh

Maybe the following thread about HarmonyOS Next is worth reading if you are interested in latest Huawei tablets and mobile phones.

https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...t-vs-android-unbelievable-experience.7092577/

The AppGallery in Next is the China version. There is no global version of AppGallery in Next. The only global app I found so far in AppGallery Next is Booking.com!

EasyAbroad, the Android container in Next has most of the global and local Singapore apps. Interestingly, running benchmark under the Android container returns almost the same results as running natively.

EasyAbroad is an Android environment built using Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and MicroG framework to support Android and Google apps. Data will likely pass through EasyAbroad, MicroG and Huawei HMS.

I am able to receive push notifications but its reliability is less consistent than my Android phone.

I am still using the old Huawei Matepad M5 8.4 Lite China version (M5 8.4 Youth Edition, Kirin 710 chipset, 4GB/64GB, 1080p 8.4 inch LCD screen), bought in Dec 2019 in China. It has since been upgraded to HarmonyOS 2.0.

Recently I bought a new Huawei low end Matepad 11 SE 2024 Active Edition (活力版) from Taobao. It is China version (unfortunately still Kirin 710 chipset after so many years, 8GB/128 GB version, 11 inch 1080p screen), with HarmonyOS 3.0.

The normal version (not 活力版) of Matepad 11 SE 2024 Edition comes with Qualcomm CPU, HarmonyOS 4.2.

If you want to buy, you should get the normal version.

Initial there was a offer at RMB 929 but they cancelled my order. Later I got it at RMB 1019, probably not that worth it considering the chipset and the older HarmonyOS 3.0 version (unlikely to be upgraded to newer version).

My use case mainly for Chinese Entertainment apps so I do not need Google GMS related apps.

But Easyabroad app (出境易) seems to provide quite some Google apps and some apps for Singapore.

Huawei Matepad Mini 2025 is of course a totally different class of product than Matepad 11 SE 2024 version.

The following link is from Taobao/Tmall Huawei Flagship Store.
12GB/256GB version at RMB3999
12GB/512GB version at RMB4499

Maybe 11.11 offer will be a bit cheaper.

Thanks for all the info XiaoFan

how u get the 4499...thought the national rebate is only meant for their citizen ? Should be 4999 ....and that price for Kirin 9010 , a bit hard to swallow.

Yes there are such apps from EasyAbroad app, no idea how well they work. I am just curious and installed EasyAbroad app to see what apps are available.

You may want to ask in the Huawei HarmonyOS Next thread mentioned above.

I do not need and do not use Google related stuff in the two low end Huawei Tablet at all. They have very specific use cases (for Chinese Entertainment apps). BTW I do not use Netflix or similar streaming apps.

We actually have iPad 2018 and iPad 2019 at home which are still working fine, if I need to use these streaming apps on a tablet.

Personally I feel no point to look at this Huawei Pad Mini or high end Huawei Phones because of the high price yet with so much hassle to get Google ecosystem to work, unless you can use it as it is without Google.

I used Huawei P20 as my main phone from 2018 to 2021 (replacing iPhone 6S which I used as my main phone from 2015 to 2018). After that I switch to Realme and Poco phones as my main phone (Realme X50 5G, Poco X4 GT and just changed to Poco X7 Pro).

Even if you can live without Google GMS and Play Store, I still feel this Huawei Pad Mini is just at too high price to be worth it.

From the Taobao app, the price shown is as following, without China national debate. But now the 12GB/512GB standard version units at RMB4499 are out of stock. Only the more expensive 12GB/512GB 柔光版 units are available.

Taobao/Tmall Huawei Flagship Store.
12GB/256GB version at RMB3999
12GB/512GB version at RMB4499 (standard version标准版)
12GB/512GB version at RMB4999 (柔光版)
