This almost happened to my Aunt, went to see show at esplanade in the evening. After the show, went to toilet
and got trapped in the hallway where the toilet was located.

Call us for help, we tried to call esplanade but their public number only active until 6pm so no one pick up. Tried to find the number for their security desk but of course can't find info on that either.

Finally call one of the shops there and got them to contact the security to go let her out.

Ya so must ensure lock can be accessed from inside before allowing it to slam shut

That actually sounds terrifying — those doors are meant to be accessible from the inside for emergencies.
Glad you got out safely, but someone should definitely report that building’s safety compliance!

There must be another door leading out. All exits must be on L1 or leading to street level. U must be panicking at the time.
