I see it as a government cock up if the story is true

It's a letter with names on an address

If they put 20 names at 1 address and those 20 names should be divided to 2 households cos it's tenants, then by all means complain to MP

Nope... if he is a Singaporean.. and he had registered the rented address with ICA... The landlord presumably the owner did not update his current residing address with the ICA...

Then it will depend who is faster .. the tenant should technically able to log in a claim ..
It's an offence not to update the address that you are staying at for more than 28 days. I changed my address when I went to stay at my son's place while renting out my whole unit. I didn't get the CDC vouchers and I was considered part of my son's household for that year. My tenants didn't get any cos they were FT.

yes.. it should be like that... people who did not change address and rent out the whole unit is breaking the law.. and consider tax evasion. and should be reported

I don't think it's possible to evade tax cos once I submitted my rental application for whole unit to HDB, Tax Department automatically changed my flat from owner occupied to non owner and charged me higher tax. When I moved back after the TA ended, I had to inform Tax Department and they reinstated the owner occupied status and refunded me the balance tax as they collected 1 year in advance.
The only way to avoid tax is for owners to rent out their units without HDB approval, that is, not submitting applications to HDB which I think it's rare cos FT need to register their residence with their employers and MOM. Don't think FT will rent if they can't register the address. Probably if tenants are Singaporeans and owners want to take the risk to save on the tax. However if tenants want to bao tou owners later, sure can if owners are nasty.

Still can don't declare the rental under income for income tax.

Mine was auto calculated by tax Department lei. I didn't even need to fill out any column to declare rent. I just add in my income to the appropriate column and pay the total tax.😅
My property agent did all the necessary documents and filed with the authorities on my behalf. Then tax Department came after me when time to declare income tax.🤣

I did update lah. Only when I was moving back and update back to my old address that I need to inform tax Department that I was no longer renting and they revert back the status to owner occupied. They collect tax in advance so I had to inform them when my TA ended and they prorated the tax. For example at the beginning of 2024, they will inform me of the property tax for 2024 based on non owner status. When I move back in March 2024, I have to inform them of the date and they will recalculate the tax and refund the difference.

landlord rent to FT, cdc go to waste

landlord rent to singaporeans, let tenant take better. because if landlord die die want to claim, he/she must change nric address to the rented house.

500 to 800 cdc per year, let it slide lah.

if both singaporean, and landlord never claim for 2 address, landlord can take. Tennant household just need to go to CC to fill form then both can get.
