write off loh and find a good excuse to buy a new notebook.

3 years is a good length of time especially if one uses the PC everyday.

I think the point here is that the product was still under warranty and Lenovo did not at least try their very best to rectify the situation. Secondly, they simply pushed the problem back to the customer when they could not fix the issue, instead of being up front and actively explore other alternatives. If the part was not available locally, they could have easily shipped it from another regional or global service parts centre...no biggie. To me its obvious that there were screw ups at multiple levels starting from the support staff to the managers at the service center.

In another analogy, its like saying you bought a car with a persistant engine problem and the manufacturer cant fix it, finally telling you that something is wrong with the fuel that you are using!! :s27:

Yes, that what I am trying to say. If the product still carry a valid warranty. Then the maker carries the duty.

This also tell us how bad for those who bought the extended warranty !!
Is easy to buy but hard to claim it !!!

There is no such thing as fairness if you haven't noticed
In this world money and power makes the rules.

It is purely profit driven that is why I don't fanboi companies like some iTurds.

Sold laptops has no income value they don't make any extra money from sold sets, so to reduce cost so their CEO/Shareholders can buy a new Ferrari they drop the old designs and take their chances with refurbished boards hoping it can meet the repair demands.

Boards are cheap only when manufactured in masses, in this case it is cheaper to "refund" TS rather than reproduce an obsolete board(Plus they get to use the "devaluation" policy to refund the cash that is why it is stupid to buy expensive laptops.).

It is not a environmentally friendly world as well, sell and dump, rinse and repeat.

If the say brand do something like what you say. By all means walk away from them. If they think is not profitable, then dont sell. Pull out from the market.

You may be suprised how much they made per PC. From Factory to dealer and comission in between.

Ytd, CASE called me to inform me that Lenovo contacted them. Someone from lenovo told CASE that they were surprised how come I when to write it on forums. CASE warned me to refrain from posting on forums in future to avoid unnecessary lawsuits. Cause they may scrutinized what I wrote and sue me.

Wow and I thought CASE stood for Consumer Association Of Singapore looks like it stood for Corporation Association of Singapore...

Seriously if I were you TS, I wouldn't give a sh*t about them.
There is no grounds to sue you if you are telling nothing but the truth.

They only pay back TS $1100 for the laptop which is ridiculous for a 2K+ laptop using devaluation as an excuse.
A laptop with T61 equivalent specs could have lasted for 2 more years.
Was TS suppose to return the machine or is it a 1 off claim?

hi ArcticCheetah,

I get to keep the laptop.

My thread in Lenovo forum got closed by the administrator. This was what the administrator wrote: "It is unfortunate that you experienced these issues. By your account, it seems that Lenovo explored your concerns through all available avenues, and as you have pursued and reached a settlement through processes outside of Lenovo, I think it is inappropriate to continue the discussion here."

Well since you get to keep the laptop it isn't too bad.
I guess you could order a Atheros Wifi Adapter from ebay , mod the BIOS to accept 3rd Party Wifi Card then try again.

Today, the IBM guy was supposed to come down to my place to collect back the loaner set laptop. But he didn't came. In the end, I called him and he told me that he forgotten about the appointment. I wasted my evening waiting for him.

There is no more IBM for laptop.
