I hate to have my batt meter show so low. I hate it when i have to quickly pick up my laptop to go to a site for work, without the adapter, and find that I have about 1hr batt left. *face palm*

I have set it to whenever it drops below 95%, the adapter kicks in. Did it for my T61s, and all 4 of them lasted 3yrs before replacing the batts. The battery is there to be used, hence the laptop came to be.

So u kept the power adapter on together with the battery, and it will not damage the battery?

My current practice is using battery power at 100% then discharge to 15% then charge to 100% and reduce again. Can see that my charge cycle is high. I wonder will it harm the battery faster?

Yes high cycle count = shorter life

If you read the help for power manager, it is not advisable to charge to 100% every time. Also, if you always charge 5-15% to reach full, your battery won't last as long.

That is right, so under the Battery > Battery Maintenance > I select "Automatically optimize for battery lifespan". Power Manager will manage the charge so that I get a full charge as well as protecting my battery.

I have 2 T61 which are always connected to AC and with a battery attached , 24/7 & 365 days, for the past 3yrs. Battery are still good.

Yes, this is the default factory setting.

If worry, why buy laptop n the first place?
The battery power should be there when ever you need it.

My T400's battery KOed on me once, got less than half charge for mysterious reasons, used for 2 years. Happy that they changed my battery FOC... Now new battery, also good =).

Wondering if its anything I do wrong, I don't purposely discharge it to charge it, and I have formed the habit to take out the battery after its charged to full on AC power so it doesn't (theoretically) get harmed by the heat out of T400 (which is very little on normal usage). No idea why my batt went kapoof the first time round.

That's exactly what happened to one of my T61 fans. What I did was to remove the fan and bring it down to Vital Computers at SLS and ask for an exact replacement. Cost me S$90 for it. Replaced it myself and it works fine!

i use vpostusa to buy notebook from lenovo usa, lenovo checkout asks me to key in data into firstname field and lastname field, what should i key in there?( my vpostusa full name is like vpxxxx dddd eeee)
and they also ask me to tell them which county the vpostusa address is in? any help? do they accept uob debit card?

should i use vpostusa address as both billing and shipping address?

Non dedicated graphic, same as my model. What has happen? Fan not turning? or noisy? This is common problem for T61.

I use option 1, Start charging only battery is below 96%.

Fan not turning when I boot up the laptop come out fan error... Bt when I press esc able to go pass that and load windows.

Yup, it starts off like this, when the fan is still wonky but not completely spoilt. Then it will get to a point that you can no longer press the "ESC" key anymore. That will mean that ur fan has kaput.

Yes, fan is gone case. Unfortunally the fan is make together with heatsink. So you have to replace the whole assembly.
