hihi
i am using R40 2722AA2 :)
bought it from recent IT exhibition.

may i know do i have to always discharge my battery before i charge it?
i tot for li-ion battery u can charge it anytime even it is not fully discharge?

if i don't use my battery frequently as in once a few months, is it advisible for me to fully discharge or charge it before keeping it?
is there such thing as overcharge?.
meaning i have to off the power once my laptop is fully charge?
cannot leave it overnite or continue charging for too long?

does toshiba or fujitsu laptops provide backup facilities like IBM?

need some advise...
thank you!

Memory Advise Needed..

I have heard some issues on PC-133 rams not being to work properly on PC/Notebooks that runs on PC-100 ram.

Contemplating to upgrade my X21's memory capacity.

1. In view of cheaper PC-133 rams, anyone have any success story on using PC-133 on X21s? If so, which brand and type? (I notice there is 256MBit and 144-pin one on the price list)

2. What is the maximum capacity I can go to? IBM suggested a 256MB strip. Possible to go 512MB?

Thanks

Q1. Nope. Using PC-100 rams 256MB ValueRAM by Kingston (KVR100X64SC2/256).

Q2. For X21, Memory (RAM) std/max[8] 64MB / 320GB. So the maxi stick to go is 256MB.

Thanks for the reply.

So no one managed to use PC-133 to work on older IBM machines?

Recovery CD usage problems

Hello to everyone. U have read thru all the posts of this forum... wow took me about 45 min... hehe

Anyway i had formatted the whole of my hdd b4 and will be able to help with the recovery cd procedure.

1) I recall someone experiencing the usage of only 2 cds for recovery. This is possible if you do not wish to copy all the necessary installation files for the various software applications and drivers in your hdd. Eg IBM Record now, IBM Access blar blar...

The reason explaining why only 2 cds are prompted is because upon complete usage of the 2nd CD, the system auto restarts and if your BIOS setting is not set to CDROM first boot device, the system auto boots to the freshly new Windows. Hence the 3rd and 4th cd will not be prompted to use anymore.

To prevent this from occuring, go to bios setting and change boot priority right after the laptop restarts from the 2nd cd. The 3rd and 4th cd will be prompted subsequently.

2) I have a problem with the wireless configuration. As my laptop is bought form NUS, there is a folder containing Intel Network PRo Management tool installed by the com centre. However, since after the reformat, I do not have these files anymore. Hence I am unable to configure my wireless for use in NUS.

I wonder if anyone can help out in anyway like where to download these files. Have been trying to browse thru Intel and IB websites but they only have drivers available.

HOpe to hear from you soon!
