Unlikely I will fix it , had a ssd change, ram updates and cooler changed in the last few years... will sell it and get another thinkpad.
X220 is really hardly.....but the battery life is about 4hrs + max

If you're not opposed to the idea of a personal refurbishment (with the high availability of disassembly guides and manuals).
A replacement fan + thermal paste + replacement speaker should chalk up to no more than $20 with shipping inclusive on taobao (check the Lenovo CRU/FRU IDs). + Isopropyl alcohol from retail pharmacy total bill of materials should be <S$30, maybe add an inexpensive paintbrush for dusting small areas..
+ Servicing time required. But this also depends on personal proficiency with DIY-repairs.
If the machine lacks an SSD, its also a good upgrade option. They're at about 40-50cents/GB currently if you don't mind the drive cloning or reinstallation of windows.
pity. if you dont really need a brand new laptop, like just use at home or smth, can consider refurbished ones, think qoo10 got a few.
my x220 leave at home to use, bought new ultrabook to bring to sch.
