Hi, how about the 2nd gen thinkpad 13?seems like quite a few horror stories of lenovo laptops.
.. Even the thinkpad series since lenovo took over IBM...
Technically alot of known issues. Hinges easily broken, whining issue, lines on lcd.
Parts constraint, always not enough parts to get replacement. Therefore delay in repair.

Would advise people not to get it instead. Stick to the usual X and T series better.

Price is cheaper but usually new models such as these are guinea pig models that lenovo release to test the market.

On a budget can consider get L series instead of E series as battery life for E series is quite bad as its only 1 internal battery only. Usually after 1 year battery doesn't last already.

Take note that L series doesnt have internal battery and no backlit keyboard.

Its the same. 1st or 2nd gen Thinkpad 13 have issues.

Not sure how you know about the 2nd gen since not many have had long term issues with it....after all, it was out only recently. I have the Thinkpad 13 2G. I am impressed. No issues so far with it.

Those who are considering getting the thinkpad 13 gen 2, avoid the keyboard backlight option as it causes an high pitch whining noise.

After discovering it , i took up the case with Lenovo and I had a refund given.

Hi...could you please tell me how to reproduce the issue?
And did Lenovo immediately proceed with the refund? For how long did you use the laptop before taking up the refund issue with the laptop?

Had a motherboard change, took 2 weeks which needed parts to be shipped. Issue was not resolved

Called up and took about 2 weeks to get back a full refund

Hi all,

my SL400 has been with me for 8+ years and i'm using it now.
the parts has not been upgraded except for its ram from 1GB to 3GB (max 4GB) and its HDD to 500GB.

i dont really need to buy a new one as it is still functional and durable, TLC since the 1st day till now. the only thing now is to upgrade its motherboard.

would like to know where can i find/buy this motherboard? and how much does it cost?? (though this is an old motherboard, should be cheap by now?)
or rather which one is better for SL400??

PM45 nVidia NB9M-GS 256 MB, DDR2 -------------- NVIDIA® GeForce 9300M
PM45 nVidia N10M-GE1 256 MB, DDR2 ------------- NVIDIA® GeForce G105M
(the parts name was found in the SL400 parts list)

NVIDIA® GeForce 9300M/G105M - is it the equivalent to a motherboard or a gfx/gpu??

Thanks.

Not worth repairing though, just get a 2nd hand laptop instead. X230 / T430 price range is around $300 currently.
