The CD Key on the COA of your laptop should work if you decide to install from scratch.

Hi, can list down or pm me the detail steps? I need to change my 32-bit Home Premium to 64-bit Home Premium. Some ppl tell me need to change to better OS. Now very confused. Please help me.

Mine is W510 w/o any image. Thanks in advance.

If you got a iso image you got from online and do a clean install. You can choose between 32bit and 64bit. :) i can confirm it. Cause on my win vista i can select between those 2.

Can i have the link though? As i'm not sure what you talking about. Okay if you got a ISO image you downloaded. Retail ISO. You can choose between 32bit/64bit. That's what i am referring.

Do not be confuse about the key, example if you got a home premium with 32bit, it is also supported in 64bit. Need clarification here! Expert. This one i assumed only.cause i remember this is the case.

ok pmed.

i understand what u mean, each version can install in either 32/64.

i meant let say cd key for home premium can be used in ulti or not etc. but i doubt so lah. only those who tested or know the loophole then can ans.

just to add on wat kenshin is replying. the first 4 digits its ur machine type, the next 3 is the sub-model. and yes. if u happen to buy extension warranty. make sure to check the details. is ur warranty upgrade by us (service center) or by the reseller. meaning after our system detects ur machine is out of warranty, but if a customer claims to have extended the warranty with the shop, it means u have to contact the shop. i have a case last year, a customer bought a SL400 from i think harvey (iirc). he bought extension of warranty from there. but my system checked it is only 1 year standard carry in warranty. but he got i think 2 yrs extended. so after checking, his additional 2 yrs is not covered by us, but by his reseller... so guys out there i hope this helps in preventing u from coming up & down; making urself frustrated too. lastly, i will try my best in any problems u face to my ability. have fun using the thinkpad.

Actually, this bring up a very good point. Never never buy a extended warranty from reseller or 3rd party. This is just a insurance ant not warranty. The person sell you the insurance take a cut from it. You PC do not necessary go back to same brand of service center when you get into trouble.

Sometime you may not even get the insurace (warranty) after few years as they have closed down. You never get a case with CASE for this type of situation.

As far as I know, you need specific 32-bit or 64-bit ISO for Windows 7.

Direct links here: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/...links-ultimate-professional-and-home-premium/

why the big hoo haa between 32 64 bit win7, you will not notice any difference for end user unless you are running 64 bit program also. if you are using a 64 bit OS and running 32 bit software like Flash games from fb 32 bit Browser which you will since there's no 64 bit flash. 32 bit 3d games it will not use any memory above 3 gb too. at the end of the day also lppl.
