Hi...does anyone know when the Carbon X1 5th Gen will be available in SG? Went to the Lenovo showroom at Marina Square (run by Newstead) and they said that no stock worldwide and must wait till Apr or May.

Anyone has info?

Anyone brought device to Lenovo for servicing recently?

A standard form is given to you to sign. It says words to the effect that I confess that damages are my fault.

Did anyone proceed to simply sign the form? Why is Lenovo Singapore so desperate?

Why want upgrade from x220, it still performs better than my hp spectre x360 which i bought last year. LOL. more chrome tabs open also wont crash.

Aging, speakers not working and fan whine

pity. if you dont really need a brand new laptop, like just use at home or smth, can consider refurbished ones, think qoo10 got a few.
my x220 leave at home to use, bought new ultrabook to bring to sch.

If you're not opposed to the idea of a personal refurbishment (with the high availability of disassembly guides and manuals).

A replacement fan + thermal paste + replacement speaker should chalk up to no more than $20 with shipping inclusive on taobao (check the Lenovo CRU/FRU IDs). + Isopropyl alcohol from retail pharmacy total bill of materials should be <S$30, maybe add an inexpensive paintbrush for dusting small areas..

+ Servicing time required. But this also depends on personal proficiency with DIY-repairs.

If the machine lacks an SSD, its also a good upgrade option. They're at about 40-50cents/GB currently if you don't mind the drive cloning or reinstallation of windows.

Anybody here has experience with Lenovo Thinkpad T470? I am looking to try one but can't find a demo unit.

The specs look kinda confusing too.

Anybody care to share much more about this laptop? Especially from user POV.

Thanks!
