I m thinking of changing my T420 and X230 screen to a higher res screen (from normal res). Do the people at Sim lim do it ? any idea how much is the cost ? thanks.

I dont think it is worth it, due to very old model already.
Most of LCD still under 1366x768 only.

My understanding is that if you don't mind the cheaper ABS plastic build (which also explains the extra bulk), they are built as well as the T series internally.

E/L series are actually ideapad grade chassis (no rollcage etc) with thinkpad level driver support, BIOS patches several years. Limited or no docking ecosystem.

That's to bring the cost down.

The L480 and L580 finally gets the same docking love as the premium range.

Finally USB-C charging for 2018’s Lenovo laptop to partner my USB-C Google Pixel 2XL. Throughly impressed with X1 carbon’s Dolby Vision display but the internal battery is a liability as its performance usually starts to degrade on the 2nd years. Without option for external battery, the 500 nits display is not a sustainable joy. My Surface Pro 4’s internal battery bloated on the 2nd year.

Going for Thinkpad T580 with LTE/4G due in May 2018. Used to own x60s, x220, Pro 4, so I’m now gunning for a 15”. Apple Mac also have USB-C charging and 500 nits display but the cost is about $1500 more, Surface Book 2 will also cost $1000 more. Based on web price now, can get T580 with 3 external batteries for about S$2100.00. Can really leave my charger at home. Appreciate your alternative insight.

What else do you intend to spec it with? You read somewhere that the WWAN options will only be released in May?

Do you really spend a lot of time away from an electrical outlet? Having literally *all-day* battery life with 3 extended batteries sounds nice, but what happens at the end of the day, when you need to recharge them? Furthermore, chargers these days are already tiny, if you can have access to an electrical outlet you then only need the one ThinkPad charger to charge both the laptop and battery, so don't write off the USB-C charger yet...

On an unrelated note, how did you figure the SP4's battery got bloated after only 2 years, was it causing the case to crack?

I was feel that X1 Carbon or ThinkPad box packaging was random.
Some come with retail and some may standard packaging.

Have you guys received a nice colour box for your latest 6th gen X1 Carbon?

To save $200, staying with the cheaper i5, as compared to the cheapest i7 the performance increment is only 10%. Also opting for Windows 10 Home to save $90. Both saving will contribute to the blazing and insanely fast 1TB nvme drive. Also maxing out 1 single memory slot to 16GB leaving an empty slot for future expansion.
Lenovo USA announced May 2018 for the LTE/4G version while Singapore’s Lenovo is ‘coming soon’.
My defective Surface battery was noted during screen replacement. My iPhone 6’s battery also experienced bloating. Notwithstanding my experiences, bloated battery is uncommon but battery’s chemical degradation is almost certain after 2 years of usages. Battery replacement cost about $300.
