Hi all :).

Since ThinkPad's warranty follows the machine, how can one go about extending the warranty if he bought one second hand? Lenovo's website isn't helpful on this. Does it cost $300 and what does it cover and not cover.

Is it possible to get accidental damage coverage as well?

What if the original warranty already lapsed. Will Lenovo still allow an extension with this "time gap"?

Thanks for helping this noob. :)

Recovery CD for X60

Hi fellow thinkpad users....

my hdd on my x60 has crashed. :s27:

Have bought a new hdd to replace but discoverd that the resuce and recovery patition died with the crached hdd.

Does anyone have a Reovery CD I can use to reload my x60?

Alternatively, the expensive option would be to get one from lenovo.... anyone know the price of one?

Thanks for your time....

I remember seeing a bit torrent thread for the x60 recovery disks set. before. But that was many months ago. You can try searching for it.

Feel sorry for you dude. Was there a "clicking" sound or any other symptoms before it crashed?

Thanks. No, there wasn't actually... dunno what happened..... time to move on.... so time to et the recovery....

there is one other option but it's rather time consuming. Download all the drivers.... do a clean install.... but do i need another OS or can I use the one under the lappy?

The license under your laptop should be valid so there wouldn't be a need to purchase again.

I am not too sure if you could just drop by Lenovo Thinkpad service center at Changi and request to loan 1 to load on the spot.

You will get the recovery image back onto your disk once you done so. Afterwhich, you can create a set of recovery disk when you get home.

I suppose the drivers part can be taken care by Thinkvantage driver update. There is no need for you to re-download the drivers yourself to install it one by one.
