Indeed you can write a batch with this. Just do a ipconfig/release then ipconfig/renew. It's the same as troubleshoot problems.

issit? my impression was that, when i "troubleshoot problems", the wlan card actually gets disabled then enabled. the ipconfig thing just, well, releases the IP, then renews it. not quite the same ba..

Well you can actually do that too. Disable and enabling the wireless card using dos command too.

I'm so thankful that none of my Thinkpads had any problems. Durable workhorse. Very please.

My X201 wireless LAN is using Intel 6300 ultimate. It's able to latch on to my MIO 2wire modem from my hall and maintain a strong signal link. Distance from my hall and my 2wire which is placed in my study room is quite far apart. Most of my other G wireless can't even detect it at all. Best part was that I'm on a 10mbps plan and I can download a huge file wirelessly at about 1mbps. Awesome. My X61 wireless, however, fare much worse. D/L not as fast. Perhaps the 6300 is a dual band N wireless.

Lucky I like small portable machines and did not buy the T410 or the W510. Read in the forums that W series is a very good buy at the polys. Guess you can't have your cake all the time.

best!!! The service engineer did not turn up today!!!

I going to complain to the max already!!!

How can that be? Thinkpad service is supposed to be top notch.

Was there a miscommunication?

Or is your set a academic set? Hence 2nd tier support.

Seriously, I feel that business users who pay top $$$ for their Thinkpads should be given priority. Those academic sets are so heavily subsidised and they compete with business users for aftersales!

no mis com with the engineer. They service their large customer instead of us. And my set was purchase at full price. Not those academic set. That's why I feel so angry.

The service engineer came today. But still cannot resolve the issue. He told me he can help advise on my problem cause they are well train. Told him my problem he kept quiet after that. Dunno why he bother to ask also

I can really empathise with you. Paid retail price and get substandard service. Why don't you bring it to Changi Service centre instead. They have the full resources there to troubleshoot. Ask them nicely whetehr they can replace the defective set for you.

Actually i went to the service on the second day i bought the system, they got the guts to tell me that they need 14 working days to fix some of the problem.

Changi side they do not have the replacement parts also, which make it so sucky. I found out one of the 6 issues i have is a software fault from lenovo, they used a wrong driver for the T410, which I guess they are working on a fix now for win7.

Service engineer came down yesterday to fix. Problem not resolved.

I going to unleash hell on them this coming monday... :s16:

yup i know :) i'll be experimenting with a custom batch script that monitors the connection, and if broken, will auto bring up the connection. this should be fun

but of cos, a perm fix to this problem is welcome :D

dasanyuan,

I believe the service centre doesn't sell batteries. Would love to purchase online instead of the hassle of going down and asking the shops and worse, no stock.

http://shopap.lenovo.com/SEUILibrar...D0F20B94413B5AD6E684D2848E9&model-number=7673

Website states there's 4 cell battery for X61 but I tried 2 shops and they only offer 8 cells. Not willing to spend $230 for a old machine.

Seems like most if not all batteries die after 2 years even if one conditions it.

ok. the process is like that. u call the hotline ask them transfer u to part sales dept. from there a quote and everything will be prepaid for u. then once u bring the money to the service center and collect ur parts. thats all. my both t60 batteries are still alive n kicking after 3yrs +

Raised my problem again today, this time getting a bit piss of during the call. will follow up with a call everyday.
