you might have to face the risk which third party battery may kill your machine slowly.
Yes, just go ahead and do it.Calibration as in the "Battery Gauge Reset" option? I set the power manager to notify me when a reset is recommended and it hasn't reminded me for quite a while. Should I do a initiate one even though the power manager hasn't prompted me to do so?
Yes, usually 3rd party battery does die slightly faster than original. But it might be a psychological effect afterall.Just get the original battery.
I read that some 3rd party batteries die very fast. Perhaps I'm risk adverse so I bought a original 8 cell for my X61. COst me about $220. No regrets as I'm pretty sure my 2 year old X61 can easily last me another 2 years.
1) Most likely is dust. But it is not easy to take out and clean.has been using a T400 for the past 2 years+. ive got a few issues:
1. 1st year using the laptop is not warm at all, i can put it on my lap for a few hours without problem. but now, its always so hot. i suspect its the fan-dust problem. anyone has tried cleaning the fan (dis-assembling)?
2. when switched to the ATI card to play games, the laptop becomes very warm and shuts down by itself. over and over. its because of the heat right?
anyone can help me out?
thanks a lot.
edit: some said check the fan. the fan is working i think- its blowing warm/hot air at the side.
edit: can the service centre do anything about this?

2) Maybe you would like to monitor your temperature, that will be a more accurate gauge.
Your machine should be still under warranty. You might want to drop them a visit and check with them to see if they could help you do the cleaning.
i'm intending to get SSD for my W510... any recommendation? i will be converting my DVD drive into a harddisk drive.
I remember that there is a enclosure that does that right? anyone knows?
Hi, I am intending to get the W510 soon. Did you faced any issues with this laptop so far? Need your advise before making the plunge. Thanks!![]()
its quite a monster to lug around though I know some female poly students who use them
Hi Seventy, I think all the W510 users are too busy playing games on their ThinkPad to respond. Haha. Other than the weight and battery life, not much issues. It has a decent gfx card, good display (get the HD+ at least or FHD if possible). If you intend to move around a lot with it then start hitting the gym...its quite a monster to lug around though I know some female poly students who use them
