What is the latest version for BIOS? I checkout online using PayPal. They didn't bring you back to the website to confirm. It was confirm at PayPal and ship to my SG address. Was thinking to have it ship to Comgateway.

The latest BIOS is v1.25 but if I am not wrong, from v1.19, the mSATA SSD bug has been fixed.

Woah, that really is fast. Congrats on your laptop!

If you are getting the mSATA SSD, remember that its running on SATA2 and not SATA3 like those 7mm SSDs which are installed in the HDD slot. Hence you can see the speed difference between Yukita's scores and mine, even both are SSDs.

When my laptop arrives, do I still go to Lenovo US to purchase the extended warranty? Or can it be extended locally via Lenovo distributor?

My Toshibe Portege R835 cost me about S$70 for shipping.

Love Thinkpad series and used to have 3 sets (2 X61 and 1 X201) but left with my trusty X61 for rough use now. Now giving the Toshiba Portege a try as it's the lightest with built-in optical drive.

Installing the mSATA SSD took about 5mins only! Removed the keyboard & palmrest, inserted the SSD, screwed it into place and replaced everything. Recovered the software using the factory recovery discs, updated everything before adding the HDD and wiping it clean and using it as a storage media for photos/videos/etc.

Did you create the factory recovery discs in USB thumbdrive since x220 does not has a CD drive? How much capacity USB thumb drive is enough? 4GB? 8GB?

Nope, didn't use the USB thumbdrive method because I didn't want to tie up a 8 or 16GB thumbdrive just to have R&R info on it and not be able to use the thumbdrive for anything else. The only good thing about using the thumbdrive is that installing is faster than via discs.

Borrowed a mate's external dvd-rom and burnt them 4 discs. Definitely cheaper to use dvds than a thumbdrive!

But I wonder if it is a good idea to use a 16GB thumbdrive just to keep the R&R files? I mean, you cannot use the thumbdrive for any other purposes and the R&R program will not allow you to create a new R&R set after you create the 1st set.

You can drop Addon Systems an email with your Part/Serial Number of your laptop and they can check and revert on the prices for local warranty extensions.

I have asked regarding warranty extension for my own Lenovo T-series laptops and the quotation (sometime in 2010) to the 4th year, and it was about S$299.00. To the 5th year, it was S$499.00.
