tried the lenovo checkout ..seems does not accept international credit card.

I'm taking aerospace engineering. Not really intensive on AutoCAD and other CAD programs, but it does churn well with the i7 sandy bridge



Yup, but I have went the SSD route, so now I'm on a 160GB intel 320 and storage is definitely not a limiting factor for me. Just have to manage your space well, and dump your downloads etc. into your external drives, or your desktop.

And as I've said above, it runs just fine, since most of the work is still borne by the processor, though having a dedicated gpu will definitely help to improve speeds. However the limiting factor is still your HDD, so once you're on a SSD you'll never look back, trust me.



Shouldn't be a problem. Similar to my X220 but with a built in gpu, and daily programs that I run on my X220 are photoshop, fireworks, office, premiere elements, and vegas pro. Even with 1366x768 res, photo and video editing is not a problem, just have to get used to it initially.

Honestly, mobile sandy bridge processors is a huge improvement in mobile computing, it feels snappier than my AMD x6, which in the end led me to selling off my AMD in December last year and hooted a i5 sandy bridge for my rig at home

And yes, you could go for the W520, but if for me having the same resolution and more weight is not justifiable enough for me to get the W520 over the T420. However, the weight factor of a laptop is very dependable on your preferences, so it's entirely up to you to decide. Personally I have friends who don't mind lugging around a W510 or a 17" MBP around campus day and night. Hope that helps.

I was advised by Lenovo CS via Livechat to do that.... (For the Billing Address in Lenovo interface)

However I thought if using Amazon Checkout, then don't need?

will you consider the w510 to be bad as 17" mbp?
i'm talking about lugging it around on your shoulder, not the actual weight that the weighing machine tells you.

Can't advice cause I've never tried carrying around anything bigger than my old 14" laptop that weighs 2.2kg.

But changing from that to my x220 is a whole world of difference. My arm and back no longer aches from carrying it around everyday

i'm intending to deliver the lenovo US thinkpad to my friend in the US, instead of using CGW.
but i'm hoping i dont have to get her involved in any paperwork or registration.

Trying to sign up with Amazon Payments now but it seems like they're asking for quite a bit of info.

Of course you need to provide a US phone number.

i tried to do that and got stuck when it wanted my social security number.

or does it work like Paypal in that Paypal can also collect payment from non-members using international credit card?
so that means

not really.
i think what happened was that when i signed up, it automatically made me set up the "full feature" Payments stuff. i think this includes functions like bank transfers and receiving money from other people. i was stuck there and i couldnt find a way to skip it.

anyway, i found a way to get a friend in the US to do almost everything for me. so probably i'll just have to do the spec-ing and transfer SGD over.

The last few days my X220 has been playing emotions on me. Auto on and auto sleep. Call up Lenovo and they asked me to drop to any Singpost FOC. I am not keen to let Singpost handle my precious X220 so I decided to go to their service centre. They still engage IBM to service their thinkpad at Changi Business Park. When I went there , they greeted me and listen to my issue diligently. As I have company data , they even offer to help to copy the data to my external HDD or send in with set without the SSD. They even offer to deliver the repaired X220 to parkview square for my collection. Fantastic. After all the documentation , they even ask me whether I drive and give me complementary car parking. I was so impressed with their service that I told them that I picked the right brand
