Two things I am not happy with Thinkpad is: 1) not bundled with Lotus Smartsuite or Viavoice. 2) the speaker is weak.

Your T40 comes with Lotus smartsuite licence - redeem the CD from IBM.

Viavoice, u mean the CD & headphone set? if you want can come my shop get it from me :D

Dear Kenshin79,

My Thinkpad doesn't come with Lotus Smartsuite leh... how to redeem? Need to call them or go back to the shop I buy from?

by the way, which 1 is your shop? I bought mine at MOA, Funan. Didn't know you earlier... sigh...

I have charge my battery 14 hours the 1st time. Subsequently, I exhaust the battery til 3% once every 3 weeks then recharge. I realise that if you always recharge when your battery gauge still stands at a huge numbers, the end charging result will only reaches 98% or 97%.

Cheers....

Weight saver for battery?

Is there such thing as weight saver for battery? I am thinking, I should be using the battery only during the weekend. During office hour, I usually take out the battery to avoid long overcharging. However, I don't feel good to always plug out the battery when I start my day and plug it back when I leave office.

chrisl, your 92A itself does come with ONLY the licence for Lotus Smartsuite.
email svcctr@ibm.com.sg for it.
include:
- Part number
- Serial number
- Company of purchase & invoice number & date
- not to forget your personal info & contact number.
then IBM will inform you of how to collect the CD.
as for wat my shop is, i prefer not to disclose it openly here.
anyway, $5299 is a good price for 92A. Imagine its initial launch price $6599 (which some rich guy actually buy), and when the 72A was $4999.

grandfatherboard (why this nick har?), if u wan the viavoice PM me ;)

beluga, there's no weight saver for battery unfortunately...

Thanks Kenshin... I have another question. Is the a way which I can use an external HDD in which if I plug in, will be used to boot up as primary drive and if not plugged in, the system will use back my original HDD in the laptop? I am thinking of using a separate external HDD for my work. That way is much cleaner. I suppose this external would either be connected to the laptop via USB2 or PCMCIA...

I get my R40 last month. Intel Pentium 4 M 2.2Ghz, 60Gb HHD, DVD/CD-rom Multi-Bay, 11b wireless, 256Mb Ram.
Can I check with all of you do your ThinkPad come with a Restore CD? I brought this laptop throught my friend. So as I was thinking to upgrade ram, and go to IBM website. To my surprise, I can't find my model in there. I call up to my friend and he say that this model is only avaible in a selected country only. What should I do now?

PX.INI

Hi,

I was going to use the IBM RecordNow software. The moment I click on it, it goes to Install Mode. Well, since it's the first time I activate it, I thought it is ok. But the installation fail, prompting it miss a file name PX.INI in the installation directory.

I have searched my hard drive, no such file.

Anyone can help?

You should press F11 when the PC boots. Right after the post screen should be the time. Must press it fast as once Windows loads, you are unable to do the restore.

T30 user here.

My dad uses a X31.

Btw, can X31 use T30 Power Adapter?

Saw the T30... looks a bit thick... Guess T40 really improved quite a bit on the aesthetics part on the T series...
