as a general guide, I paid $1450usd for my Model 3444F9U X1 Carbon. which is a I7, 8gb hdd, 180gb ssd. there's no equivalent locally as they are spec at i7 8gb 256gb ssd at $2999SGD thereabouts. it still represents a significant saving.

like i mention above, you can consider buying from eBay and shipping it to comgateway or borderlinx to reroute it back. As for taxations consideration, you can ask for it to be sent as a gift with no invoice attached and self declare the appropriate value.

Nah, it's ok because I really do not have the means to get one from overseas.
Guess I will have to make do with the extremely high price of the Singapore market.

Furthermore, Lenovo SG has stop recognizing some overseas sets for warranty here I heard so I don't want to take a chance too.

Thanks for the head ups :)

Just heard from a Lenovo sales rep...the T430u will not have the option for i7 with nVidia anymore because they want to push the new T431s

Is US$1450 including shipping and GST of 7%? What is the version of Windows OS ship with your model?

Does anyone else here find it strange that the new T431s comes with an onboard 4GB ram and a free dimm slot? It's nice that they are providing an option for future ram upgrades. But what if you opt for a 8GB sodimm? In this case the 4+8GB will operate interleaved rather than dual-channel mode, which may limit the system to about half its potential RAM bandwidth.

Selling away my T430 and buying a T430u with ssd for mobility. I paid extra US$50 for upgrade to Windows 7 professional 64-bit. I'm transferring my 16gb ram to the T430u once it arrived. Don't know whether this is a good choice. :)

It's much slimmer than the T430. Did you get one with nVidia graphics?

Please do not mislead fellow forum members to under declare as it's against the law.

Savings from overseas are already substantial so no need to squeeze so tight. Furthermore, if one can afford a Thinkpad, it means we are already there, at the peak.

Why don't have the means. Use Comgateway concierge lah. Just have to pay additional 5% and GST on full amount. Still cheaper than Spore and worth the savings. Spoil buy new one lah...

I've bought 6 Thinkpads from USA so far and none has given me any problem.

anyone ordered a helix thru US website yet?

For once it's cheaper to buy in SG. ThinkPad Helix with i7, 256GB SSD going for only $2599. Over at Lenovo.com, its going for USD$1999, after factoring exchange rate, shipping, GST it costs much more. Not to mention only 1 year carry in. Local models come with 3 years onsite.

Yes, T430u is 8.9mm slimmer and 0.314kg lighter than T430. I did not get the one with nVidia graphics.

Have use 3 ThinkPads since Feb this year.
X230 -> T430 -> T430u

X230 12.5" screen too small so change to T430 14"
T430 2.166kg weight too heavy so change to T430u 1.852kg

I'm comfortable using the T430u with sdd. I feel no difference comparing to T430. Wouldn't be changing to T431s already. :s13:

wow bro, how did you sell the two thinkpads that you've had?
the x230 and t430.

The helix in Singapore has no 3G support. Quite a downer, considering the hefty price.

Anyone reckons we can add a WWAN card of our own?

I am getting a powerful notebook for my work. But W530 is too ex, not within the budget given to me. Is there any alternative to W530?
