as a general guide, I paid $1450usd for my Model 3444F9U X1 Carbon. which is a I7, 8gb hdd, 180gb ssd. there's no equivalent locally as they are spec at i7 8gb 256gb ssd at $2999SGD thereabouts. it still represents a significant saving.
like i mention above, you can consider buying from eBay and shipping it to comgateway or borderlinx to reroute it back. As for taxations consideration, you can ask for it to be sent as a gift with no invoice attached and self declare the appropriate value.
Nah, it's ok because I really do not have the means to get one from overseas.
Guess I will have to make do with the extremely high price of the Singapore market.
Furthermore, Lenovo SG has stop recognizing some overseas sets for warranty here I heard so I don't want to take a chance too.
Thanks for the head ups![]()

anyone ordered a helix thru US website yet?
For once it's cheaper to buy in SG. ThinkPad Helix with i7, 256GB SSD going for only $2599. Over at Lenovo.com, its going for USD$1999, after factoring exchange rate, shipping, GST it costs much more. Not to mention only 1 year carry in. Local models come with 3 years onsite.
Yes, T430u is 8.9mm slimmer and 0.314kg lighter than T430. I did not get the one with nVidia graphics.
Have use 3 ThinkPads since Feb this year.
X230 -> T430 -> T430u
X230 12.5" screen too small so change to T430 14"
T430 2.166kg weight too heavy so change to T430u 1.852kg
I'm comfortable using the T430u with sdd. I feel no difference comparing to T430. Wouldn't be changing to T431s already.![]()
