Why wanna consider a brand that never heard before?
Agent is also one consideration factor especially come to warranty claim or repair.
Now a day, some major brand like Sharp, Panasonic, Philips, etc also quite attractive in term of price. Why take the risk?

If your budget allows you to buy a mainstream brand, you are better off doing so, rather than to spend money on a lesser known brand.
You should educate yourself on TCL then! Most of your "mainstream brand"s are outsource/manufactured from Chinese factories like TCL anyway! I may not be familiar with IFFALCON but TCL is very well regarded internationally!

Frankly if you have no idea how much I know about TVs (and I know quite a bit) then shut your trap. I don't need a goon like u to "educate" me about TCL.

Hi, how does this iFFALCON compares to other low-cost TV brands such as TCL, AIWA and Harsons?

Looking to get an android TV to replace our old Philips TV (non-digital).
Was initially intending to get TCL but came across this iFFALCON brand while browsing qoo10/lazada/shopee.

Only found 2 reviews on Youtube and mostly user-reviews from shopping platforms stated earlier.
Understand this is a sub-brand under TCL, with 3 years onsite warranty (first 2 years full coverage, 3rd year parts only warranty excluding panel).

Currently considering the 3 models listed below, and with a ~$700 budget for 55" Android TV (Prism and Xiaomi not a preference for now).

iFFALCON 55K71SG
TCL 55P8M
AIWA AW-LED55X8FL

The main diff I see is the IPS/VA panel and the storage (8/16GB).
Not very particular about PQ, as will mostly use for watching FTA channels and the occasional Youtube/Netflix.
Although I've had bad experiences with IPS panels, mainly from using Dell monitors and Philips TVs.
So maybe will try out TV with VA panel.

Any advice most appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

@ericwilis any update to your new hoot?

am considering this after review from a local youtuber.

edit: wait, is it TS' channel? LOL

So far so good.
sometime quite laggy I felt Especially after turn on next day.
took a while to connect to wifi too. Not like my last Sony who never had lag at all.

not sure if newer version k72 is better option now Since just launched.
looks much more promising.

is the TS really same person who do the review?
I actually bought it after watch her review

To be fair, Most Sony Android TVs are default set to "Fast Boot" mode.
Try to set the current tv to "Fast Boot" mode if available.

Msg them to check regarding warranty. This was their reply

3 years on-site warranty, first two years cover hardware, labour, parts, and delivery, third-year same but doesn’t include panel. warranties do not cover damages resulting from misuse, natural disasters, accidents and physical damage due to
human fault.

Is this considered ok? What does Xiaomi and PRISM warranty cover for their 3 years?

New TV being released. Jury out on whether the picture quality is any good.

Hmmmm....These are indeed rebadged TCLs.

Below are the product info for K71SG and K72.

ESai684.jpg

9hiLAqh.jpg

55K71SG = 55P8M ??
55K72 = 55C725 ??

Interesting to note that the K72 series does not have the 'SG' suffix in the Product Model.

Is the only difference between K72 Pro and non-Pro just the video camera?
If so, is there any compatible camera that can be installed on the non-Pro set to allow video calls on the TV?
The price diff is around $80 just for that camera.

There is definitely some lag, usually when turning on the TV the next day (from standby mode).
The built-in TVGuard app helps to optimize the system and speed things up again, but its annoying to do this every few days.
The other alternative is to do a soft restart, each time you encounter the lagginess.

Have tried K71/K72 and both have this laggy issue.
However, it is very slight and does not affect if you are only watching 1 source of media (that is, not switching between Youtube/TV/Netflix/etc very often).

To be fair, Most Sony Android TVs are default set to "Fast Boot" mode.
Try to set the current tv to "Fast Boot" mode if available.
There is a 'Quick start' option in settings menu which is already enabled by default.
The TV boots up quite fast for me, under a minute (from both soft restart and cold boot).

So what model of TCL is this a rebadged of? Kinda wanna get a benchmark of whether the price offered by Iffalcon is attractive.

I can only guess based on the software versions of the above 2 models.
Perhaps the experts from TCL TV thread can provide more insight on this.

Their online prices vary, depends on which shopping platform you are purchasing from (eg, stacking of vouchers and coupons).
Suggest you wait for the upcoming 9.9 sales to compare between the different TV models that you are considering to get.

On a side note, anyone saw the Lazada 9.9 iFFALCON ads on TV recently? LOL!

If the K72 is C725, then the price is quite comparable

The comment of "lag" on this TV is to my disappointment. This put a damper on my itchiness to grab new TV.

@Ericwillis and @KalTorak - does the K71 also has lag when changing channel? Other than changing media source?

Hi, there is not much lag when changing TV channels but it's not instantaneous.
It's similar to how switching of channels work, eg. on SingtelTV box (ie, there is a BIT of delay).
As this is my first DTV and Android TV, I'd assumed that's just how these new TVs work.

In fact, its actually slightly faster to switch Live channels in MeWatch if you're watching local FTA channels.
Not sure if its due to the TV's DVB-T2 tuner or what, but I find MeWatch has the better PQ.
This is based on both K71/K72 with the indoor active DTV antenna (USB powered) provided together with the TV set.

Returning to the issue of 'lag', I believe everyone has different limits to what they consider something to be laggy/sluggish.
Personally, as this was my first experience with Android TVs (and DTV in general), I find the K71 (Android 9) and K72 (Android 11) TVs not as 'snappy' as my Chromecast with GoogleTV (Android 10).
This is probably not a fair comparison, but that's the closest I can compare with (based on similar Android UI).

Thanks for the insight, do you have a P1 to test if either K71/72 is faster or slower when compared to it?

I was tempted to buy the k71 as the price and the warranty length looks good until I saw the agent's name. Had a very bad experience on my current TV that was purchased from them so decided to give it a pass.

Sorry nope. Only tried the 55K71SG for a few days before swapping for the 55K72.
Their partner showroom has the Xiaomi P1 display set if you want to go down and have a look to compare.

Was it a TCL or Xiaomi TV?
I believe they (SmartTech) were also selling both TCL and Xiaomi (PI reseller), based on their carousell profile page.

Care to share your bad experience?
From the Xiaomi TV thread, it looks like quite a no. of ppl purchased their Xiaomi TVs from them before Xiaomi SG started selling TVs here.

My purchase from them was Xiaomi. A vertical line appeared on the TV after a few months of use and it was till under warranty. I contacted them many times but they just ignored me refusing to honor the warranty.

This is just one time too many so no more buying anything from them nor buying any Xiaomi TV again.
