The iFi iCan run on class A amplification and slighter warm is normal.

Don't forget the fabulous marketing of the product for this confusion - we've pointed it out and clarified this aspect after Stereo gave us a heads-up.

In any case, as _dXter mentioned, it's a Class A solid state amp, which happens to have tube-like performance characteristics.

Depends on your grade of your IEM.
If it's entry-level, you're better off investing in a good pair first.

These products (iCan and iDAC) help to bring out the best in your earphone/headphone's capabilities.

You should give it a try and see how much more you might benefit with these solutions. Unlike other equipment, audio gear like these are the easiest to try before you buy, hence there's no way you will come out dissatisfied buying them since you can experience them before you swipe your card

And yes, sometimes no choice, burn holidays.

tested the idac with few iems today, really big improvement when compare to ipod classic.

If use from 3.5mm out direct, then it will be "double" amping...

So is crap out of the device... Quite hard to get better audio

plugged some iems directly into the headphone out.. it sucks :/.
After that i insisted i'll audition with the imac connected to idac .

But seriously speaking, the headphone out sq is cmi..
No one actually uses that right?

those using idevices with lightning connection just need to add the lightning to 30pin adapter then to the lod then to the amp
