Hey guys, question to all those using a galant desk from ikea:

can it support the weight of the cpu? I don't wanna have to put my cpu on the floor anymore. its really dusty.

Been using a 180cm long Galant desk for more than 5 years and even thrown a 32" plasma tv, 23.6" lcd and casing which I've changed over the years.

Sturdy from the day I've bought it and not a slight bend.

Mine is bent a bit. Guess the weight of my Apple LED 27" is heavy.

alternatively, can try ikea dinning tables, made of solid wood or metal. more stable and much lower price tag. i got mine for 60-80 only.

The Gallant range of table is one of the few things that Ikea made it good.

The strength of the wooden tabletop is provided by the stiff metal frame that runs the underside of the wooden tabletop. So unless the metal frame can flex, the table will not flex.

But I must add. While it will not flex, because it does not have a vertical backing, it suffers from lateral movement. You can shake the table and it will move from left to right but not front back.
