the only way the opposition can do is to keep asking questions on 6.9m and ft in the rest of the rallies. ramp it up, and it'll hit a point whereby if the continuous siaming is obvious and peeps can see for themselves.

its good for all of us anyway, if they reply, we have more information to make a wise move.

these are queries to the future, not the past. thus no excuses whatsoever.

The truth is that last time we learnt a lot from other countries so it's easier to formulate plans esp so given obedient population. Now at the advanced stage of development, pap also at a loss of how to get the country going while maintaining their popularity.

U r wrong!

It is their policy of profit at all costs that resulted in the current turmoil Singaporeans are facing!

On top of that, they have out of touch leaders and a bunch of yes men and women!

Can anyone imagine how would you have felt, IF, a big if I must add, that our holy Prime Minister decides to let Roy off with just a warning?

I know what I would have felt, I'll be appalled, surprised, and most importantly impressed, by his graciousness as the leader of the state.

But no, this machinery is built and equipped with latest technology, the financial clout and the power, to totally destroy any other voices that dares stands against them.

Compassion in the society? There isnt any. Not from our leaders, much less the people.

The best part is He openly claim CPIB is under him. If he feel something not right...he send them to check.

So who check him??

compassion goes a long way. removing gst for some services such as healthcare, could show the ppl that we are helping the citizens. pls la sick liao or wanna die liao still pay gst for healthcare :s22:

i am not a supporter of csj though i admit i like his speeches, but what he said yesterday about providing free mrt trains for elderly 80yrs and above from say 9-4pm strikes a chord in me. how much can one lose with such strategies? :spin:. what you gain is intangible, cannot be measured by dollars n cents.

and thats what u get for serving for a heart and not always measuring with economic success

Promising to give money and benefits is populist way to gain support.
It is very easy.
PAP is able to do it if that is all that's needed to win votes.
Free money for young or old, scrap COE, 90s HDB prices, etc, easy to say.
But how about the repercussions of all these "benefits"?

It's very very easy to say things people want to hear, but it's very very difficult to execute and achieve a balance.
Balance is very important.

Let's take HDB prices as I believe it's very important to Singaporeans.
Land is finite and the "cost" is important to functioning of gov or Singapore.
It is a way for the gov to get funds to support Singapore infrastructure and prevent foreign intervention in different ways including economic.
I believe it is also a way to ensure Singaporeans have enough for retirement.

There was a person who asked how Singapore an be self-sufficient on food.
LKY's answer was money. You have money, you have food.
On Malaysia cutting off water; LKY's answer was war. That's why the defence budget.

wah still 'discussing'. HAHA....election is damn divisive...I think rallies are just that..a time for great and poor speeches, frankly with or without rallies, most of you (i didnt say ALL of you) probably have an idea who to vote for liao isn't it? Will you seriously have a change of heart after attending a rally? Like really honestly, will you?

It may not effectively sway votes but im sure as hell it sways impression.
Speaking from self pov, Dr Chee with the SDP. Mr Lim Tean with the NSP. They have swayed my impression of them, and their respective parties.

Im not eligible to vote in their constituencies but if 20%, only 20%, feels the same way as I did in the respective wards, who knows?

I have friends who felt Tampines GRC was a hopeless cause for the opposition but have since changed their tones when they heard Mr Lim speak. Does that translate to votes I have no idea, but hey, its a bleeding start if you ask me.

unfortunately in the world of politics today, being hardworking and sincere are the least of most voters list of priorities :s13:

be careful there. are u suggesting that the candidates that get voted have very little of those qualities stated?

yes i suppose this was the turning point. i was also waiting to see his decision. from then on its a clear message that we don't mess around with our words, always backup what we say.

but we too have to give credit when its due. to be perfectly rational, if not for the relaxation of politics play, HHH and Roy wouldn't even be contesting in GE. you think they can participate in LKY's era? lol

To be rational, i watched the rally online with my colleagues, with a neutral mindset.

For the entire hour, there was no concrete plans on what the ruling party shall do for Singapore, 50 years from now.

All i heard was, Lee Kuan Yew, gutter politics by discrediting the opposition based on opinions rather than facts, impressions and not credibility backup by facts.

This is entirely disappointing. If they are indeed that credible, why are the people unhappy? Are we willing to sacrifice 4 more years again without knowing any of the plans laid out for us?

Given a choice if i would risk having more opposition in parliament than incumbent, vs having the entire parliament filled with yes-mans whom tells us "trust me" without revealing any plans, sorry, if i had not issued a blank cheque before, i will not issue it now.

Well said, who care about lky now.. a gone wind. We all should look forward but at the same time respect this dead man. period.

How can you vote pap because of a dead old glory.:s22:

if the investments were well managed and funds were better prioritized, this would be a non-issue, no repercussions, can anyone even dispute that?!

because of that its like saying orh now where is the money?! but plainly forgotten about all the $$ that were lost in investment!
