Hi, my only issue with an old 5yrs HP printer was the roller not picking paper anymore. No clogging of printer heads. What's the simplest remedy?

.
The roller rubber is worn out and becomes smooth. As a result, can't push paper properly and result in frequent jam.

Going forward, get a new printer.

An interesting question that I do see it arising from time to time.

So I've reached out to the Epson product manager for their ink tank system printers for a comment.

Here is their input:-

--> Is there a safe recommended period of use to prevent ink clogging the print head?

A recommendation is for the customer to use the printer at least once every month to reduce the chance of ink clogging.

When the printer is left idle for about a week or 2, the printer will automatically perform periodic head cleaning before the first job

Nonetheless, if the customer rarely prints, it is still recommended for them to perform print head cleaning if any missing lines are spotted during use.
