Why not? Both needs to be same type (dye/pigment)

You done it before? How's the results? I have modded CL-811 Canon colour cartridges wondering if the new Authentic Canon bottled ink be used with it. I think since black is pigment ink, its not going to be compatible right?

I getting Canon G2000

I was thinking of buying this too. Not going to print regularly, however understand the ink is much more cheaper then those dry ink which cost around $30 for black and another $30 for color M-size. Which found this for long run, can safe a lot on ink itself.

How the printing quality ? photos? good?

Hi all, my printer from Canon brought in 2011 up lorry already, keep showing B200 Error, seem to be a planned obsolete. Have brought a printhead for replacement and it works for a few months and error B200 again.
Very disappointed. The printer still look very new from the outside, took care of it very well :(

When i tried to research, alot of people experiencing this issue, they said is the issue with the circuit board which lead to the "burnt" printhead. Lost confidence in Canon already. Dont want to buy another Canon. 1 time scare already.

I read through this thread and seem that the ink tank printer u guys purchase is the lower end one which doesnt have auto duplex printing, need to manually turn the paper in order to print duplex. (Its fine if u dont need auto duplex printing)

I am eyeing the brother ink tank printer DCP-T700W, which is also ink tank printer, with auto duplex printing and ADF. Any good review about it? or about brother ink-jet printer?

All printers have planned obsolescence built in. You just need to find a reset software online that resets the number of pages printed. Happened in my previous Canon printer IP1000, MP 145 and even my current Epson L210 ink tank. They will suddenly become fine after resetting the printer.

Do u still remember what error your previous CANON printer gave u?
I think the "waste ink pad full" error can be easily reset by clearing the EPROM by using software.

The notorious "B200" error seem to be the "death penalty" for canon printer.

All this "tricks", i have tried before. It will make the B200 error go away temporary, but when u wanted to print, the error will come back.

I did alot of research, the best way is to change the mainboard and printhead at the same time.

I think there a Singaporean that commented on the above link (the last few comment) saying that the Canon Engineer he contacted said the printhead need replacement, cost S$86. LOL

Thanks for your help!

Same here.

I concur that those tricks are a temporary measure. At most, I managed to only get the scanner working; never the printer.

Based on numerous internet replies and our forum responses, I too suspected it's just a printhead issue that needed replacement.

Sent the printer in for inspection anyway and yes, once the printhead was changed, all was well.

Damage was just under $85.

My printer is the Canon MX886.

I used third party ink, but I don't think it is the reason why the printhead got damaged. I always ensured that the cartridge is not empty. The printhead has zero chances of printing "dry".Planned obsolescence I suppose.

It is still so new, heart pain to throw it away. Leave it sitting one corner now.

I have since moved on to Epson ink tank printer since I need to print in volume (lecture notes). Have printed over 500 pages since Jan this year and ink volume still at 95%.

Yup, it's quite possibly the ink cartridge(s) were almost running out and I've not replaced them in a long time since I've a very low usage cycle, thus possibly accelerating the print head to damage when trying it out the last few times.

Wow, you've a high usage cycle and I'm even more surprised to know your ink tank's high remaining ink volume after printing 500 pages :o

I printed all my lecture notes in colour (ps: diagram and graph in b/w is just too tedious to read), surprisingly still so much ink left. Lol, my friends thought that my family run a printing shop, can afford to print all in colour!! ROFL.

I suggest u at least print something once every month, if not the printhead will clog.

Another advice is don't cut the power to the printer. (don't off the plug). If u off it, when the next time u on the printer, the printer will sort of "loss its memory" and though that a long time has passed therefore it will starts a printhead cleaning cycles B4 u can continue printing. Wasting ink and reducing your printhead lifetime as well as the ink pads. Observe and u will understand what I mean :)

Those are good pointers for others following this thread.
They are definitely part of good practices.

Unfortunately, very hard to follow through them as I've very little spare time and this is part of good-to-do-but-nvm category. I'm typing this from the office :s22:

Canon G3000

After my HP printer cartridges auto killed themselves, I gave up on HP. Although the print quality on normal paper is better but who the hell cares and can see the difference. Printer may be cheap.....hundred plus during fares. If you use refill inks, its a matter of time before the cartridge dies due to planned failure built into modern HP printers.

I changed to a Canon G3000 with ink tank. For 300 bucks its a bit more expensive but the huge bottle of ink goes a long way. Original refill is only about 13 bucks compared to $4 bucks for generic ink. Still much cheaper than a set of HP cartridges.

Only problem with this printer is that there is no LCD screen so installation and maintenance is a bit more troublesome.

I used to swear by Brother Printers. They were cheap workhorses until the last one had print head clogging problems.

Maybe will try their ink tank model in future. There was some talk that their ink tank models were not great.

G3000 don't have auto duplex. I think for now, ink tank printer which have auto duplex function is only Epson. That why I make the switch.

Regardless of which brand of inkjet printer, if it is untouched for sometime, the printhead will clog.
