I pumped shell, but without triggering the RM 200 pre-authorisation. Friendly cashier just activated the pump for me, without pre-authorisation. Maybe that confused Amaze? Haha.......

I did so without $200 deposit also..so doubt that's the problem..just take it as a 1 time system glitch bah

There are credit cards that may offer 8% or more for certain categories, eg groceries, petrol, dining.

So Amaze still beats every other competitor (Revolut, Youtrip etc) in this aspect.

Furthermore, petrol, dining, groceries are stuff that many Singaporeans would do in neighbouring Malaysia, so Amaze would come in useful if you hit these categories on say, Maybank Family and Friends card for instance.

But yes, overall Amaze is not as attractive, if you use say, Std Chrt Unlimited Cashback card.....

Instarem and youtrip rate really sucks nowadays.

official rate is 25.59, I can change in bkk for 25.5 but I was charged 25.08 for instarem and Youtrip was 25.34.

25.08 x 1.01 = 25.33 (1% rebate from amaze) making it same as youtrip.

For simplygo, Citibank rewards doesn't give any rewards. But SCB unlimited does. I am considering using SCB unlimited linked to Amaze card for general spending, as I don't want to keep separate card for simplygo.

I am in Malaysia now and clocking my Amaze card song song. Exchange rate is 3.1834 vs spot rate of 3.24 so its a 1.75% loss vs spot rate. I got 1% back as points, 8% rebate from credit card so it's simply the best thing for me. There is no better option for now, the other option is a 3.25% charge so I am not going to complain unless the exchange rate difference reach 3%.
