I made my first spending a few days ago at iHerb. I crossed check before payment from iHerb's website in SGD and paid in USD with amaze card. I am shocked that I only saved 30 cents from a US$111+ transaction, compared to paying in SGD. I always pay in USD with my cc which I assumed rates should be better? If I only save 30 cents for US$111+ would it be better if I pay in USD directly with my cc instead?

Amaze charge u in usd or s$? If s$, amaze will add 2.1% to the bill.

No, u paid to amaze in s$, so u incur 2.1% fcy fee. If u pay using other cc, you'd be paying at least 3.5% fcy fee.
So that's the default? I cannot choose to pay in US$ right? First time using so not very sure how it works yet. I don't seem to hv even 1% off from paying in US$ than S$ directly from iHerb. Looks like paying in USD isn't that useful for iHerb?

Pls go read what amaze is for. Dun anyhow use. To charge in usd, u need to top up the amaze wallet in usd first. Else it will convert whatever fcy to sgd. And charge u 2.x% fcy fee. Amaze is more for those who wants to chase airmiles. I dunno what 1% discount u r referring to. It was never a cashback card.

mixed up with trust cashback 1%
Not the 1% cashback. I mean as in the savings from using amaze and Mastercard is 1%+ but the difference between using amaze and paying in s$ directly on iherb is less than 1%. I dunno, maybe iherb uses a very good exchange rate. I've been paying in usd with other cards.

that's right too, the other card fee is mostly 3.25% and amazes around 2.1%, so still earn 1+%

In 2021 Amaze originally had 1% cashback. Then it was .5% cashback. Then it was basically 1% cashback on FCY via InstaPoints. Then it was .5% on FCY. Now it is basically less than worthless.

Maybe that's where the 1% cashback confusion comes from?
