Haha learnt? what lesson did you learn? If you lose money on a fraud the lesson you should be thinking through is what you did/ and may be still doing that allowed it.

The thieves are not guessing your full details, card number and ccv … you have exposed details them in some manner although it may not be obvious how and the card needs to be replaced as the only option.

Other companies like revolut have one time disposable Virtual cards for internet use to stop your main card even needing to risk an internet transaction exposure, they also have location security option where they block transactions made in any location you are not present based on your phone and so that is whole other world stuff compared to amaze offering which is just having a basic mask over the mastercards security functionality.

Revolut send approval requests to your app for certain types of questionable transactions and better still as a front line defence thieves can’t steal 6000 if there is only 200 sitting in it which seems a whole lot better that a yes or no fiddle switch on your full credit card limit that amaze offers. And credit 6000 k is as easy as a button push with revolut anyway.

The lesson you should have learnt from this fraud event is a behavioural one for a game how you use your cards in the world.

You should be able to throw away a card instantly it is compromised and still function seamlessly on a holiday with the same company situation without needing to fall back to other companies … can you do that with amaze ? Nope your cc is maxed and their new card takes ages to receive and the whole process is clumsy

but with revolut you can. You can go sfar as to get back up cards in advance kill your first card and away you go to the bar to give away your details again with the second lol. You can also get a new card delivered to you within 48 hours globally and chat with intelligent agents when there is an issue.

Peoples greed for a few cents of cash back seems to have mushed the brains.

oh you can also block you cards with thw same on off switch haha

Cards get compromised all the time without people doing something wrong or risky. The most famous example was Target in the US, where hackers stole 40M credit card information by hacking their POS system. None of the customers whose credit cards were compromised did something 'risky' nor would it be possible to change some behavior to prevent their data from being compromised (short of using cash only :ROFLMAO:).

Does Revolut have better security systems in place? Yes. I love it & use it as well. But it also has it's limitations, including fees for weekend forex, & fees for THB for some odd reason. But Instarem offers it's own pros and cons & one can get a lot more rewards from using a range of cards, including both Instarem & Revolut without significantly increasing one's risk profile.

Ok got it, you are for Revolut.

I am happy with Amaze, and being more cautious with how i use the Amaze card esp for online transactions.

I use Amaze mainly for on the spot transactions these days, while using bank credit cards/revolut for online. Works for me thus far.

Good lecture, but if they used the revolut virtural card at walmart site they would not have been a victim of that event at all. It would have been a non-event. The point is to thwart fraud and not be at risk … not to give up completely and get a bunches of cards from a bunches of companies. No amount of fooling yourself with talk of portfolio diversification helps in a real sense. Amaze is chaging 0.3 to 2.05 % over amaze card every day yet folks moan about the 1% step up for revolut in the weekends. Folks hwre are boardering on irrational if they properly explored the risk profile they are dipping into get very restricted claims on cash back points.

The point is to control risk and rewards.

Amaze's main risk is internet transactions. You can control that risk by using it at physical locations, while using revolut/youtrip for online transactions.

Wouldnt that be ideal, since you can still leverage on all the Amaze's 'VPN' benefits?

Don't understand why amaze got online risk, it can be locked using the app. There is minimal risk.

Can be locked for online transactions yes, but doesn't mean that the card hasn't been exposed.

Then all credit cards except revolut cannot be used? Those who got trust issues just stick to revolut.

Easier to deal with credit cards than Amaze, I feel, during fraud times.
Completely agree. There is a lot to be said about dealing with a entity that has skin in the game and an understanding of reputation value.

Haha you have been well trained by society … “trust issues” is a classic emotive phrase for those trying to manipulate others into behaviour that common sense would prohibit.

… only those with mental illinesses won’t use amaze, right?

In theory yes but in practice …. I found for amaze in vietnam the first issue was it would not work on grab … with help telling me to speak to grab and grab telling me to speak to card provider help.

Then next issue was transaction failure on contactless payments at 24 hour dairies etc that lead to 3 or 4 attempts that hit my card but not the merchant and the fuss that caused with folks that don’t speak english dealing with that. Who knows if the merchant got the funds or not.

Then there was a whole lot of reversals that latter hit at higher fx prices proving that amaze does not do its own fx but instead simply marks up over masters despite what they say... cause if they did they would ise the same fx during the change of authorisation ticket…: Add then the claim from their help that the merchants failed to process in time even though one of those merchants was macdonalds and the the 2 other transactions made at same session were not reversed.

Then also the 0.15 to 2.05% irratic fx rate over the credit card mc rate that started on one particular fine day with the help further investigating and indeed still investigating this apparently as they never replied just closed the ticket.

then the fact sometimes the chip worked at a merchant and not the strip and then sometimes the strip worked but not the chip and the accumaulated mess that just sat on the card with reversals not obvious and taking many days and sometimes required to be chased up with the help. Then the next day the reverse would happen chip versus contact versus strip. It was better not to piss around with amaze and use other cards that work to be frank.

and then add in fact if the amaze card is lost or needs replaced it is gonna take you 2-3 weeks. (Though i did not directly experience this) Cause that is how long it takes to get a card yeah?
I don’t see how someone can say you can control your risk with amaze lol. You could control your risk when fx matched the mc calculator to some degree but they greedily ruined that.

I wager the banks are sick them too

What counts towards the quarterly calculation of S$1500? Specifically, do only forex spends count, and only those that are equivalent of S$10 and more?

Thanks!

any spending min $10 and MCC not excluded
It is a bit unclear. It says total spend must be 1500 and not qualifying spend.

So for example we spend 500 on shopping and 1000 on utilities, we meet the 1500 total spend but we get cashback only on the 500.

Is my understanding correct?

I did about 1200 overseas spending. I am considering putting 500 spend via grab top to hit the 1500 spend. Will this be okay?

explained very clearly in t&c. $1.5k spend requirement only includes qualifying spends (MCC). anything not qualified, will not count towards min spend.

(d) the transaction does not constitute a refund, chargeback or fall under any of the merchant category codes set out in https://www.instarem.com/blog/terms-andconditions/mcc-exclusions/; and
